That was actually a very exciting game.

As a Canadian, I quite appreciate that their Quidditch is Lacrosse-based.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's a bit surprising you'd pick it over the original Quidditch that (apart from the later added Seeker position) pretty much mirrors ice hockey. :P

giving Diana a consolation love interest

Frankly, as someone who was immediately happy when I saw Alexandra being presented as a genuine love interest, over Diana continuing to pine after Natori... I'd say she turned out to be much more than that.

She's not just there to console Diana, or be consoled by her. Her role as a noble forced to suppress her talents and obey authority, being a pawn in larger schemes, while also joining a group of commoners, gives her one of the most complex character positions in the series, possibly second only to Lapis.

She also creates a bridge between nobles and commoners that the original Fairy Tale of Jewels didn't have, since Diana was the only one in that position. Alexandra "siding" with her own team at the end matters a lot - I can easily picture that, if Lapis' plan succeeds and a rebellion occurs, Alexandra, and possibly some other lower ranked nobles, might side with the commoners, shifting the balance (and story) quite a bit.

Oh, and yes - I'm definitely rooting for Diana x Allie. But Alexandra has also grown into my favorite character, and I hope she continues to be more than just "the love interest". Based on this arc, it feels like she absolutely will be.

Also, her character design is just perfect. She's not there just to be a background character.

I came to this manga for hot evil/misunderstood women not whatever this is.
Again this is very much my personal preference I just really am not a fan of this sort of thing so I might just drop it for now and read when I see [Final] on the side.

No, I agree, especially since most of the love triangle stuff hasn’t really gone anywhere and hasn’t changed much since the beginning. It's a bit of a fake triangle, in that Natori’s feelings haven’t evolved towards Diana romantically (and I don't expect them to), so narratively it all still feels extremely one-sided (not to mention the new girl’s role now complicating things further). I commented a while back, saying a lot of the same things. The love triangle angle might be working for sales, but overall, the story feels like it’s lost some of the focus and unique promise it had early on, in favor of stuff that's a bit more typical.

Seeing the author's afterwords, where this sports aside seems like it was a new "wouldn't that be fun" decision, isn't that surprising. We’re 20+ chapters in, and Lapis’ plans have barely begun or gotten any real attention. Lapis and Natori actually haven't gotten much focus recently, but I am assuming that is just for this volume. I still love the series, but I’m ready for it to move forward. I want more focus on Lapis’ evil plans and Natori’s struggle to stop her and save her. That's partly why I am happy for this new character--hopefully, she helps settle this stuff one-sided with Diana, and the story can start focusing on its plot again.

This is Diana's arc, it's obvious it's going to have more focus on her than Lapis. Lapis' arc is inevitably going to be the "climax" of the series, so this is not really that unusual for romance mangas.

That senpai might as well be saying "Go Allie and charm the panties off of that commoner!"

That said, looks like Lapis is taking back the spotlight in the next volume.

I don't dislike that whole magical competition thing, but the main storyline did seem to basically just halt in the meantime. I suppose it could be balanced a bit better. Although I'm not sure, maybe then it would feel like a disjointed volume, hopping between the competition thing and Lapis' evil plans.

At this moment, the magicross arc felt like a full volume of filler.

This really shows that Natori is locked into Lapis tho the Diana and Natori interaction was really cute. I wonder what the yaoi pairing is up to.

One of the best if not the best yuri manga.
The four girls, the drawing, the story, the pacing, the emotions, the motivatation which not dissapears in few chapters. Everything is amazing.

I do not know why, but I secretly wants more Alexandra and Lapis interaction even if it seems unreasonable now. The story writing is quality, and who knows... maybe the writer will do it for me...XD
I can imagine this manga goes till 200-300 chapters and I wish it never ends if the quality still keep up.

And with that, Diana officially leaves the Natoribowl. Now let's hope Lapis doesn't screw everything up.

Diana once again demonstrates that she the Heroine of this story. She accomplished everything she had set out to do and then willingly broke her own heart because that was the upright thing to do. It's a good thing Alexandra seems perceptive enough to realize what a treasure is falling right into her lap.

And yeah, Natori, it's time to do your job, to graduate from servant to someone who can pull Lapis out of the weird headspace that amounts to slow self-destruction.

Good job, Natori! Not quite enough to sway her yet, I guess, but this was very much what Lapis needed right now. Just keep this up and you may save her yet. ^_^

I will say the back half of this chapter does make me suspicious that the theories I've seen about Lapis actually secretly being her disguised sister are correct -- and this moment is going to make a massive difference in the plot of the world Natori finds herself in compared to the way it was described back in the first chapter.

Okay she's got it baaaad for the villainess. This story lead me to believe it's a love triangle but I'm pleasantly surprised that the mc really falls for the villainess even though Diana was her favorite character but it's more in a friendship sense.
Please please let them kiss lol.

You know, as fascinating as the theory of a sister switcheroo is, I don't think it works well with the setting of the story of this being a game Natori obsessively played and knew all of its tricks and secrets. For a huge fan as Natori, she should know well of a twist that big.
