This nosebleed gag is getting pretty old.

The nosebleed thing seems like a weird Japanese urban legend/joke more than anything else because I've never seen this concept anywhere outside of gag manga.

I could be wrong, but I believe it's a visual metaphor for ejaculation.

I guess it's "tamer" in the puritanical sense of not actually referencing sex in any way but I gotta say copious bloodshed is way more off-putting to me than any of the actual signs of arousal.

Well it originated to show male arousal. So the blood flow to the penis can be mirrored in the blood flowing from a nosebleed.

I always thought of it as they're turned on so the blood starts flowing hence nosebleed, regardless of if they're a boy or girl.

I always thought the nosebleed thing was because they see something erotic, which sends their heartbeat skyrocketing which = high blood pressure. Nosebleeds is a symptom of high blood pressure.

It's a visual metaphor for blood flowing to your lower regions. For guys that's an erection and for girls that's engorging blood into the various locations it goes.

It was originally done as a visual way to show arousal without actually being lewd (because Japan has so many restrictions on that) and showing erections etc.
