To be clear, Japanese readers knew that a part three was coming because of the way episodes are titled:

• 第15話前編 = 15th chapter, first part => chapter 15.1
• 第15話中編 = 15th chapter, middle part => chapter 15.2
• 第15話後編 = 15th chapter, last part

The end of 15.1 hurts so good... And to think that before today, I wasn't sure if I was meant to get attached to this pairing.

I was initially bummed when the story decided to have kasumi and haruyo become a vessel to tell other relationships. But theyve been so so good waw

Yamabe saying "that's how they get you" about the store raffles is so funny, I say that all the time too lol

can't say i was positively impressed with the whole box cutter thing. it comes off as being very on the nose, as the mangaka's cute little indulgence. as a result it felt strangely flat and shallow despite being emotionally and physically extreme, dare i say. especially because the drama loses momentum and resolves just as rapidly as it begins.

i very much don't mind dark and twisted stuff in yuri, but i prefer when it's well-grounded in the story and doesn't feel as if it comes out of nowhere to mostly get a rise out ot of me as the reader. neither am i against intense tonal whiplashes, but when it feels as if those whiplashes are used mainly for shock value, i just become desensitized to them and stop caring almost immediately.

If I had a nickel for every time I translated a yuri manga about an awkward loner with weird eyes trying to get to the bottom of a ghost haunting her classroom without directly talking to her I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's odd it happened twice.

We're certainly on the Hanamonogatari route; an anthology of bittersweet and wistful yuri. But I think Igarashi is determined to give every pair a happy ending. Now the real question: was SayoMizu the sickest it gets or is MiaBeh the sweetest it gets? Their flower is of course the Sunflower, but I've gone back and added a page at the end of chapter 12 for SayoMizu's less pronounced White Clover.

There's something to be said for how, even assuming there's no possibility of bad endings, the boxcutter leaves a looming shadow over the rest of the manga. Chapter 15 was unreasonably suspenseful at times. I hope Igarashi can maintain that unpredictable energy. In hindsight this is effectively a saccharine 58 page one-shot. The way they visually revert to their younger selves as Mia thanks Yamabe is a neat technique Igarashi was fond of in Dominant.

Igarashi described Yamabe as the kindest and most selfless character she'd ever written (trust me, nobody in Dominant is in the running) and felt emotionally overwhelmed drawing this chapter because good people deserve happiness. She told all those who had no faith in her to kneel and reflect on themselves (and said by that standard she'd need to kneel too). The world is at peace. I expect boxcutter dual wielding next arc.

Interesting that the volume should end here without returning to Kasumi and Haruyo. Though Yamabe and Mia's story is surely done. What's also interesting is the timeframe. Their reunion comes after Kasumi and Haruyo visited Yamabe, but then we get a 5 month timeskip. Which again doesn't mean anything; next chapter will surely be following Kasumi in the present. It's just something to think about, where Kasumi and Haruyo would be at by then.

The longer this goes on the more I actually appreciate the box cutter for setting in that lingering uncertainty and the very realistic risk of everything going horribly wrong. I was worried throughout the whole flashback during Ch15 that Yamabe's seeming guilt during her meeting with Kasumi and Haruyo stemmed from her having done something terrible to Mia, which grew from just dreading it to truly heartbreaking as we saw all the good she did for Mia. I am happy we got the good ending here, because it also injects a sense of hopefulness, and sits in great contrast to the box cutter. Thank you, Igarashi, and thank you scanlators

It's interesting how Mia and Yamabe's story doesn't seem to be told in terms of a story Haruyo and Kasumi can learn from. I had assumed that perhaps each couple would end up tied back to Kasumi and Haruyo as an example for them of what to do/not do but with this chapter, it seems more clear that it's purely the letters themselves that connect everyone, whether they know it or not. It's much more of a classic series of vignettes in that way.

I AUDIBLY CHEERED; I was really, really hoping for them to get together and it not be just a fond memory from the past!! Very sweet, and very good to know that good things can happen to the side couples lol -v-;; All flavors of yuri indeed.
