I loved this chapter! I love Shuu-chan (i relate to her) <3, it's so cute that she's short too (shorter than Aya?). hoping to see more of her, and i like the use of "red" too , it came across even though the colour wasn't actually being used (very clever!)
The more opaque storytelling I really enjoy when it's a chapter like this one. But this way of storytelling in crucial moments is really unsatisfying if it's not done masterfully (and honestly, i didn't feel it was earlier - though i can see the audience is divided on that). You know, when you tell a story there's a "contract" you have with the reader and in this case the contract is not fulfilled, so I felt cheated... but i do think Sumiko-sensei is always trying to push herself and do something new, and the fact this isn't traditional publishing means less editors to gatekeep you, so overall it's a great thing.
