every so often i forget that men read yuri until good ol forum comments start getting raw around men getting cheated on by lesbians / bi women or having their relationships cease in favor of gay ones. Anyway im excited to see ohsawa yayois take on the terror and violence that marriage enforces upon queer women in small towns.

I don't know who exactly you are talking about, but I'm a woman. And I don't like cheating, regarding of the gender. What kind of comment is that, seriously? Do you implied being cheating on it less of an issue if your partner is gay/bi?

cheating on your husband is actually a good thing if it's with a woman

Because women famously don't care about being cheated on. ??????

I have to say that I'm often (personally) mystified by the comments on stories like this. To make an analogy: I don't "like murder." I don't think "it's OK for some people to be murdered." But I routinely read and watch fictional stories in which people get murdered.

I don't quite understand why discussions about cheating in stories so often quickly devolve into assertions about "not liking cheating" in real life.

On my end I'm on the non-binary side of things, and while I ultimately don't mind any pronouns used for my person I always roll my eyes when people assume gender for the sake of argument. This also isn't the first time I've seen on this forum someone assume anyone that dislikes cheating as a general concept is actually specifically a man that is upset about a man being cheated on, it's weird to me and unfortunately it probably won't be the last time I see it happen.

I mean, that works for you but clearly not for everyone. And this is a first chapter, so it's normal for people to figure out whether it works for them or not in the first 5 to 10 chapters of something.

Plus, not all cheating is the same. The vibe of the husband in Run Away With Me Girl is so awful that no one is worried about the cheating. This is too early to tell, but so far the husband seems supportive so the feeling is different. Of course that might change, so for me its a tbd, but I can understand why for others it's a problem or a drop..

Yeah I think it's normal to discuss story elements, especially major aspects of the story. I was saying I dislike cheating in general and it's not usually something I want to read about, though I also want to give things a fair try and cheating can be written well. Run Away With Me Girl was something I had to go back to and finish after it was completed, at the end of the day I ended up thinking that manga is something special and I even bought it. So I'm open to seeing where this one goes.

Thanks, I do understand that--since it's the reason I made my comment. "Works for me" means that there's a story element (an extremely common attribute of human behavior in relationships) that may or may not be part of an interesting story.

The assumption that a reader must "like" a real-life behavior in order to be willing to read a story containing fictional representations of that kind of behavior is what I was trying to understand.

It's nice to see a new work from her, I think her last manga was "Hello, Melancholic!" if I'm not mistaken...? It's been a minute.

I dunno, the set up on this one feels kind of weak to me? I don't really get how at this point in your life you could still be so hung up on a childhood crush who you never were even like... acquaintances with. Is this an allo thing?

Just checked MAL, this is actually a finished series! 10 chapters, from March 2022 to July 2024, so not that new. She's seems to be working on another one at the moment, from last February. So that fills the gap of inactivity a bit, I guess.
I guess Gouma-Den wanted to finish up HayateXBlade before undertaking this one?

Oh I see, thanks for the information! That's good to know, and 10 chapters for this is an easy read at least.

I'll say, while I have my own thoughts on cheating, mainly how there are situations in which it is not just fully warranted but cool and good. The thing is, no cheating has happened yet. We don't even know if this will be about cheating or divorce or a secret third thing.

I think some us are so focused on how Hikaru is in love with a woman while having a husband that you've skipped right to the proverbial good stuff lmao

All I see is a weird stalker and the cute style doesn't even really fit the yandere vibes I'm getting here. Marrying someone if you know you have a person you can't forget and obsess over already makes her an a-hole in my mind.

Makes sense. There are indeed a lot of cases of things I don't like in real life, but I don't mind in fiction. I guess I should have phrased it differently and said something like "I'm turn off when there is cheating in fiction".

Probably shouldn't be getting married if there's someone you can't get over.

Shhh, it's because of messy people like Hikaru that we get juicy drama.

(seriously tho, what's the point of saying this in a dynasty scan forum discussion...? lol)

That is a very interesting scene and I'm not entirely sure what's happening in it or how much of it actually happened.

The first photo she eats is crumpled to look like a rose, then in the next panel she's about to eat an crumpled photo and there are shreds of paper near her mouth (which you wouldn't get from shoving a crumpled photo in your mouth), and over both panels there's text of someone calling her name. Then on the next page we jump to her in a wedding dress and it's implied that the person calling to her was her soon-to-be-husband. She's also in completely different close and there's not a photo to be seen, but there is a rose.

All of that leaves me with a few questions: Was that whole thing a metaphor and/or was she actually eating photos? Was the first thing supposed to be a crumpled photo or a white rose? Was this a single event that lead to the wedding, multiple events, or a reminiscence or thought she's having while getting ready for the wedding? Do the things she eats represent things she can't let go of or things she's gradually giving up on?
