Drama about “sniping” cause someone else decide to do a low quality scanlation and people were “fine” with it so the original group stopped which sucks.

After all the build up and all the Yuri teasing, it would be incredibly disappointing if this just ends up as "because we're friends" and "youth" thing. I don't want to be a negative nancy because this manga is genuinely wonderful, but idk I've been burned too many times :(

Hiro-sensei has put too much time and effort into this arc to just bail out in the end. That said, both characters are still quite young, so I do expect it will probably be fairly subdued and tactful.

Both Komichi and Erika are childs btw.

When everything has finally released, the best journey for lategame komieri focus would be to start from ch78 (but Hiro definitely started committing to them since they switched uniforms in ch69-). However in reality, nothing beats starting from ch0 and reading the entire manga for that sweet sweet sports festival -> culture festival relationship development and seeing the manga grow in real time from cute girls doing cute things slice of life to coming of age yuri.

Tbh I could even push the chapter number back further, you can tell yuri wasn't really meant to be breached past subtext for the first 8 volumes but then volume 9 starts and yuri moments start coming out in droves. All of a sudden we have an explicit in text yuri crush, komichi learning that experiencing romantic love isn't exclusive to the opposite gender, and setting up komichi and erika as romantic leads. I mean yeah at the time we were undoubtedly skeptical, but now its been over 2 years since Hiro started unravelling this arc and the yuriful emotional highs between komichi/erika and oshizu/mai show no sign of slowing down.

I'd like to believe that by now we'd all have unflinching faith in Hiro. Simply because if he fails to commit now after pushing not one but TWO yuri couples in this culture festival arc it wouldn't just be bad, it would be a devastating waste of payoff that over half of his manga has arguably been building up towards, and would scar his readers from ever trusting another one of his works again. To me this isn't something you can feasibly half ass or bail out of without severely sabotaging the whole manga

You don't deserve Akebi x Ericka chapters if you're complaining about Hebimori and Mai's chapters. They've got such great chemistry, I love them sm. Especially Hebimori, cause of how she's so insecure, but she still puts in the work with her guitar and signing in front of the school and writing her own song despite being insecure and not having experience. Love how Mai is always giving her tough love, their banter is top tier. Hiro is too good, I like that the side cast is prominent and have their own shit to deal with that we get to occasionally see and not just following Akebi every single chapter. Thanks for the scans, it's really good (I do miss Riri's accent).
Also love the little bird of Mai's hairpin, so cute and a nice callback.

This has been building up since Erika visited Komichi early in the manga, that whole visit felt so much like meeting your parents girlfriend moment the only possible ending was them getting together. Even their eyes meeting when Komichi saw Erika clipping her nails the first day of school felt like a soul mate fated meeting. I never understood how people without faith existed after the romance was so obvious since the very beginning.

TBH, you don't need the thickest pair of yuri googles to see a few lilies blooming all the way back in Erika's introduction chapter. We didn't know how far Hiro-sensei would take it, but the subtext was always there and just on the verge of flat out text.

i feel this hard. volume 9 is the obvious yuri start point but it's hard to pass up earlier volumes when the entirety of volume 7 exists and really deepens erika's character, and her motivations in the later volumes... also this beautiful page

Just started reading and the art is positively phenomenal, the way it captures pure girlhood youth so beautifully, it’s such a damn shame how obviously what a gigantic lolicon the author is because the vast amount of fetish shots I could certainly do without lol

Just finished a re-read and there's a couple of thoughts I wanted to share.

The pacing of the story takes some getting used to; I remember feeling quite lost when I was first reading it. I do think that the way the characters are introduced here is much more interesting than the character-per-episode approach they took in the anime though (but it was probably a good decision for the anime).

One thing I found interesting is that Komichi's eyes were consistently drawn as brown in the beginning and later as blue. I do wonder if that was because of the anime.

I feel like the fanservice was really toned down in recent chapters (meaning the last couple of volumes). I'm not sure from what point, but I found myself thinking that as I was reading. It was probably coincidental, though.

I really love the Hebimori-Mai pair. I can understand that people want to see the date (myself included), but chapter 86 was soooo good.

I have no words for Komichi and Erika. The way their romance was built-up was awesome and I'm looking forward to the continuation.

One last addition on the art: I love that each character has distinct facial features (and not just haircuts, which I often see). Also, shout out to my girl Washio-san and her constantly serious face.

That moment really sent me for a loop. Very sweet scene. I really love how their dynamic has filled out. Like their feelings are just oozing out of the pages.

Sidetrack because I don't have many I can tell IRL that will get this... But sometime ago, I (a woman) was having a conversation with a friend having ice cream. And out of nowhere, she told me my eyes were pretty. But not just that - she told me she liked the detail about the dark ring around the brown part of my eye (iris). I've never even looked at my own eyes that deep before, but sure enough, it was there. I was so stunned at the type of compliment, I told her she was going to make me blush, lol.

Reading that scene made me think of my friend because it really feels like too sweet a thing to say, but sometimes cheesy things really do happen.
