Very random thought; but Mai's Mom dead, she tastes strangely good, and she can't be hypnotized by Devil powers ... could her Mom be an Angel? Possibly future arc where she returns from Heaven to scold her daughter for dating a half-succubus/devil? Feels like the sorta symmetry you see in this type of story, but on the other hand, also feels a bit far-fetched ...

I also had the thought that Mai might be an angel, and that it might be a bit far fetched. So maybe if there's a few of us thinking something along those lines it might not actually be that crazy lol

yeah like the moment Mai says "I barely remember her" in combination with having weird immunity to charm presents a possibility. Though it could still just be Mai sad backstory + lesbian resolve not to be weird about your girlfriends mom.

My original thought was “oh what if her mom was also a succubus and her powers hadn’t awakened yet” but angel mom also seems plausible. The author is too devoted to worldbuilding for me to not think theres some foreshadowing here.

This sounds like a good theory too. I'm not against angels being in this story but i want to be a softie and believe Mai just loves Lily so much she couldn't fall for the devil powers. Because also the Dad also didn't fall for them either at first. He saw she was super gorgeous but genuinely consented to being with her.

But either way this manga is so good and sweet I'm getting emotional i love them so much.

Traditionally, deals like this are fairly straight forward. Mortal gains service of the devil for a period of time, often until their death. Once that period has elapsed, devil gains ownership of mortal's soul. The services a succubus can render are mostly pretty obvious, but the devil is in the details of what the contract actually stipulates.

It honestly might be as little as 'perpetually attractive wife who's DTF 24/7' with provisions for having children. I could see there being wiggle room for requesting tactical use of devil powers to grease the wheels of career advancement, but I doubt the main focus of the contract is in that direction. Unless succubi are the only devils around, I suspect there are other kinds who make avarice and ambition the primary concern of their own contracts.

As for what they get out of things besides free and clear feeding, various depictions have either souls as a useful personal commodity for devils, or in other cases the devils are operating under a quota with regard to mortals consigned to hell by their actions and may face pressure from infernal hierarchies to deliver them.

Yeah the succubi are hot but that doesn't mean I'd want to live in a place made of fire and brimstone lol
