I'd be surprised if the story goes with Shu-chan not liking physical touch rather than the obvious she likes Aya route.

I agree, mainly because I don't know how not liking physical touch would tie into Mitsuki and Aya. That seems like a simpler and personal problem to solve that wouldn't need much development or teasing. Who knows though.

In the bar chapter they were touched/hung on by Narita and their object of annoyance was still Aya.

Edit: I should read more of the comments before posting. Heh.

It looked to me like Shu-chan was Narita's college friend first. With the bar chapter being Narita introducing Shu to Aya, telling the story of how Narita and Aya met in high school, and how Aya is when she drinks. So this might just be a case of Shu still getting to know Aya and being uncomfortable with her general Aya-ness. Their energies are totally different.

Also whenever people are constantly talking about someone you don't know like Narita and Aya do with Koga it can feel excluding. I think if Koga hung out with them too vibes would be better, but she isn't a fellow student obv.

Then how do we explain the look Shu gives Aya as she confidently talks about wanting to hang out with Shu and Arita, or also the framing of Aya in that panel? That all had a romantic vibe to it that I can't shake. The touch afterwards makes that seem even more romance-coded to me.

To me that was more like being momentarily pulled in by Aya's charms once they were turned directly onto her, but she snapped out and resisted in the end. Aya is in a devil costume after all.

We are used to Koga's effect on people being framed like that, including in just the last chapter, but Aya seems to have a natural pull too now that she's this comfortable in her own skin. I don't think it has to be romantic. Just a hunch, but I think Shu has something going on with her that makes being around a free spirit feel conflicting.

I legit thought Shu was a masc-presenting egg until I saw the boobs on a reread (trying to figure out what's actually going through their mind).

Make your bets:
- Shu doesn't like physical contact
- Shu likes Aya and knows it's pointless
- Shu likes Narita and is annoyed Aya is always around him
- Shu is homophobic

I feel like as a corollary to the first one you could add "is a germophobe" to that.

I'm more bugged by how the arm touch is drawn on page 4. Straight bar with fingers coming out.

I was fr staring at it for a while tryna figure out the pose of her hand, and with how it’s drawn it kinda looks like she’s got the back of her hand against the floor instead of her palm being to the floor but I could just be blind

Make your bets:
- Shu doesn't like physical contact
- Shu likes Aya and knows it's pointless
- Shu likes Narita and is annoyed Aya is always around him
- Shu is homophobic

Betting on 1, 2, & 4

Is she homophobic or crushing

Can’t it be both?

Has anybody made the guess where she’s closeted/has internalized homophobia?

I have to admit that I didn't care terribly much for the last chapter but this one is so great. Really curious now how she'll resolve it. (I follow a lot of one-person acts on Bandcamp but they mostly do electronic music and Mitsuki has tried that already so...)

Thanks for saying that. I have felt the same over those last chapters and also felt I was the only one thinking that. But this last one makes it interesting back !

Interesting direction to take Mitsuki's story in, it opens up a lot of possibilities for how she'll try to move forward with her music. Band member recruitment arc would be funny.

By the way, the cover of volume 4 is on the author's twitter: https://x.com/agu_knzm/status/1987391629649715250

I can't wait to hold it in my hands... in two years when the localised version is released here. Looks really nice though. (Man, what if it keeps going and we get a cover with blue pages Mitsuki one day? Just the idea makes me nearly pass out from excitement.)
And thank you for the direct link! That website is hell to navigate.

I can see this going in several ways, but what I would like to see:

Mitsuki needs to establish herself as the band leader (the front person is not necessarily the leader, think Miku from Band-Maid for a Japanese band or Steve Harris from Iron Maiden for a Western band).

However, as an introvert (despite coming out of her shell a lot) I don't think she will do this off her own bat. Therefore Aya will need to step in, in some way.

Hime could also play a part, which I would love to see.

The course of music doesn't always run smoothly, lets not forget that when The Police were recording Synchronisty they hated each other so much that they recorded their parts in separate rooms.
