Yeah, give me all that good stuff. Finally some honesty from Wakaba. She does enjoy these "games." They're both crazy. I love it.

The LN being pretty short (two volumes?), I think it'll end soon and will be wrapped up with this volume.

Oh, come on... I find the romanticizing of the idea that love can survive any kind of abuse and disrespect absolutely disgusting.

Someone else made the same comment and I think that's just representative of all of Komaki's games. She always provides an obvious out for Wakaba but Wakaba never takes them; she wants to be around Komaki. She's consented to pretty much all these "bets" but was confused as to why. Now she understands or is being honest about her feelings.

They got split into 4 when transitioning to storefronts but yeah. If they want, there could be one more volume left for the manga after this one.

That's not what they're doing, she's being honest with herself and realizes all the things Komaki does to her that she "hates" she actually loves.
It's not "the person I love is doing something I hate but it's fine because I love them", it's "the person I love is doing something that i'd hate if it was someone else but I'm ok with for her" which is a real thing with kink and relationships in general and there is a stark difference between those two.

I am unreasonably sad that Wakaba didn't hug Komaki while she had the handcuffs on

i don't know if anyone will get this but komaki/wakaba feels like rudosiri (uma) but with extra steps and conflict. very tasty dynamic. i'm not even a masochist but komaki is hot tbh

Mmh it's so great how they still utterly deserve each other.

is a real thing with kink and relationships in general

Your lover puts their lips on yours: hot or sweet, depending on your mood

A stranger puts their lips on yours: "hello, human resources?" (or police)

Still gross, but okay I guess.
Truthfully, unless they continued this "I hate you" game into the rest of their lives, I can't see an actual real relationship resolution in this?

This is so stupid but I love that for it. It's interesting how Wakaba being honest with herself and leaning harder into her role in their farce gives her so much power. And hitting Komaki with the moon is beautiful right after doing something so egregious was a work of art. Clarity of what the game actually is gave Wakaba the means to win it. In hindsight it always had to be Wakaba who would end the play first.

I gotta say though. Komaki has always been a bit too good at winning her losing game for me. It's probably down to a relative difference in what the author and I find transgressive. It's really effective when it aligns, like how tossing the lip balm felt downright villainous. Maybe it's just cause of how I grew up, but the tearing of the (school uniform?) shirt was distractingly antagonistic to me in terms of cost. But hey, it seems like for Wakaba the only thing that she considered a true betrayal of her boundaries with Komaki was the lip balm incident and that's her prerogative. Seems like she's about to claim Komaki as restitution and I'm happy to applaud at the curtain call for a series that makes me feel something at the end of the day

"You won't be able to leave! You'll have to stay here and let me take care of you!"

(looks at handcuffs that are clearly larger than the widest part of her hands, that she could easily slip out of) "...Oh no, how terrible. I am clearly trapped forever."

I mean, they're children. Kids lash out, do things they don't mean, say things they don't feel. They don't understand how to process their feelings and they mishandle things all the time. There's a reason we don't punish children for doing things that are crimes in the same way we punish adults. They don't know how any of it works. And that's so much harder when you have a kind of feeling about your friend that society tells you you aren't supposed to have.

Like, it's up to every individual how much they're willing to forgive. And I definitely wouldn't point to this as a model to follow, for anybody. But we don't just read stories because they're good models for how to behave. We read stories because they're interesting, and two kids learning how to have feelings for each other in the worst way possible, while probably not a good lesson for anybody, is certainly interesting to watch.

A bit rush compared to the light novel, perhaps.
In the LN there are a few more events happened between the handcuffs part and the make up part: spoilers the trio (Wakaba, Matsuri, Minori) hold a small contest to choose the birthday present for Komaki (and she of course refused it); Komaki secretly hang out with Wakaba during the school festival; Komaki hang out with the ship captain Matsuri and got enlightened with her love advices (respect captain Matsuri, she really know how to cook this couple)
