This isn't some gladiatorial crowning type shit where the "loser" fucking dies and all their possessions are conceded to the winner.

For an arrogant person just imagine losing a bet they consider "will absolutely win" and being mocked as "less insightful" (even if that might not happen) is enough to drive them insane.

I mean, sure, that's absolutely correct, but narratively there's no reason for any of that lol. No reason to bet to begin with, no reason to worry about losing one's station. I guess Luliam did get some flak here and there, from the knights mainly, but I guess, considering she was actively dangerous, I also don't necessarily blame them. Meh, I'm thinking too hard over this nonsense. Just wish it didn't go with this particular story beat, is all.

I hope this sudden development is not a sign of the manga being on the chopping block. Yuri Hime has been pretty ruthless lately. They did say they are going to debut one series per issue for the next 12 months, so something has to make way. Odoriba and Garan Hime just ended and will be joined by Black Knight next month.

Edit: Holy shit Wanna Skip School in the Infirmary is ending too. YH is not taking prisoners.

pain

I have to wonder if the editors making these decisions realize no one will be willing to get invested in anything new they publish if it's got a 60% or higher chance of getting axed within a year anyway.

Ah the Netflix (and other services) issue, many series get cancelled so less people engage because they're expecting the cancellation, which leads to more things cancelled. It really sucks all around. I hope Yuri Hime stabilizes because these cancellations suck :\

Odoriba ni Skirt ga Naru will be at least 6 volumes long and Garan no Hime is the type of fantasy/sci-fi yuri that very rarely manages to survive past 3 volumes regardless of magazine (not based on a light novel and not isekai or slice-of-life).

I'm a lot more surprised by Gakeppuchi Reijou, I expected at least one more volume.

Odoriba ni Skirt ga Naru's author also said the series went as planned and is ending as intended, so I wouldn't count that as an axe.

yeah I don't know what the other person is thinking, this is more likely setting up future things happening. Just because the girl realizes OH SHES HOT doesnt mean the manga is ending. If anything, considering the mangaka, it's probably to just get the relationship drama out of the way first for increasing hot under the collar stuff so they can go to the plot.

I also wouldn't take a brand new series as yuri hime just axing things left and right either. If anything, this is them flexing new financial power with how many licensed manga have been getting anime adaptations lately (and the runaway success Watanare's been for them and the publisher)

Watanare isn’t related to them. The manga is serialized through the comic arm of the LN publisher iirc.

To me they’re just doing what a lot do when trying to find the next hit in an increasingly shrinking physical media environment. Casting a wide net while toeing the Netflixication line. There’s only so many pages so the math can be brutal.

True. She wasn't even introduced until chapter 12. It feels like forced drama to me somewhat.
If she was introduced before as Daichi's supporter (read: bootlicker) and has been shown to support Daichi in many ways (even offending others just to stan Daichi) it would have made a lot more sense.
