Oof. I didn't expect such outrage in the comments (and I'm not sure why I didn't expect it, it's not unusual for everyone to be unreasonable).
He clearly said that he has no real issue with Elsa and Yvonne. He clearly said that his concerns were merely over the protection and happiness of his daughter, and y'all just focus on the bits like "two girls? no". Like there was no other context here at all.

Oh my god, please just fuck. At this point, waiting until she’s of age makes no difference + y’all are the same age, so no harm, no foul.

“why am I disappointed”

Maybe cuz u want her too??

A little kiss wouldn’t hurt. Please.

Edit: Rereading chapter 57.5 was a great way to cope lol. I’m dying of thirst and that special episode was the drop I needed to keep me going

I think Yvonne is treating herself as older, because of the isekai. But it's not very convincing since she hardly ever thinks of her past life outside of being a beta tester for the game, and there's no clear sense of when or how she died, so it feels like a rather artificial concern to us. Worrying about age gap would have made a lot of sense for Rei Oohashi/Taylor, who was probably upwards of 25 when she died, with full (and frequently referenced) memory of her past life, so a clear 10 years on Claire.

Maybe she really did die before puberty if she's forgotten what teen hormones are like...

I’m 99% sure Evie IS treating herself as older, cuz to her, Elsa is still underage, but like, WHY are there reservations? They are both technically the same age, and also dating, waiting a year or two is lowkey highkey kinda pointless.

But it's not very convincing since she hardly ever thinks of her past life outside of being a beta tester for the game, and there's no clear sense of when or how she died, so it feels like a rather artificial concern to us.

I FEEL like it was referenced that she thought about her previous family but I can’t remember lol

In the end, it really just boils down to how relevant the past life is made into the plot. Here, it’s not very relevant, but in IFTV, Rei constantly references her past life and uses that knowledge to influence her decisions

And, thinking about it now, the age stuff is only ever an issue because the story makes it an issue (for me, at least) Rei doesn’t even consider the age gap while Evie is holding back because of the age gap.

It low-key makes even less sense for Evie to care cuz like, WHY date her to begin with of her age is an issue? It’s not even that’s so not attracted to her cuz of her age, so it makes no send to hold back imo

The novel at least refers to experiencing the 8 AM subway rush. Also, she's never dated anyone before Elsa. Implication of having had a part-time job, because her family was poor.

I'm pretty sure Yvonne made it into high school, I'm a lot less sure if she made it out.

I think a number of people here are reasonably upset with a character stating he cannot bless a relationship that cannot bear children related by blood. Since, you know, it feels like something that targets us.

That the story sends the message of "It's not a good reason because they can actually have magic children" similarly stings, because it feels like the author is validating that bigoted opinion... With a solution that actually invalidates those who can't have magic babies.

Weird isekai agegaps bothered me in Mushoku Tensei but the difference was Rudeus was and is a disgusting creep. This here really feels a bit pointless. More frustrating than cute.

Exactlyyy

I don’t care about age gap when the mentally older char is a good decent human being!

the thing people are missing is that Evie always finds a reason to get in the way of her own desires. Like always. She always finds an excuse and a big part of the manga has been her learning to not make excuses anymore in order to live her life.

Basically this. Back in the days when she had still been actually useless, there was a reason why we called her the Neutronium Girl.

You phrased that much better than I would have, thank you :)
