Because Nekoyama obviously has eyes only for Inugami. It matches her cat persona : cats aren't friendly with everyone. They are picky. They don't have owners, they have a person they like. I know, I had a cat for the longest time and she owned me as much as I owned her.

And the kuudere act of Aki makes her the main obstacle between Inu and Neko. That she'd do that out of jealousy or to protect either of them is debatable.

The author should find her a love interest.

I wish this got a fully-fledged anime adaptation :(

Somehow I feel like once Inu and Neko get together it will be really close to the end of this series... Seriously, the other main animal characters get more relationship development than these two. As of the latest volume, there are like three couples that we get to see kisses from, but Neko is still trying to wrap her head around love.

Side-couples are great tho... So I guess thats good enough for me. Still would be better if they got together at any point instead of ending with nothing ever happening.

Oh yeah, side couples are REALLY great, no denying that. I'm just saying Inugami and Nekoyama is turning out to be a pretty slow burn. Which is fine too, it's not like there's zero progress.

Loved the revelation about Miki and Yakiji, especially the way Ms. Cow "attacked" Ms. Mouse the moment she held up the red tie. And yet, Hoshikawa will always be Nezumi's waifu.

And as Tsundere as Nekoyama is, Ms. Cat is still way more dere for Ms. Dog. I mean, if she didn't actually like all the affection, she wouldn't be there spooning with Inugami at the end.
