What's your go-to story for when you're feeling down? My pet passed while I was driving her to the hospital this morning, and I could really use something fun and wholesome right now.

I know other people have already answered, but I'll plop some of mine here too. Maybe they'll help someone else :)

None of them are particularly heavy on the romance but they're soft and comforting and sweet.

For anime I have a few too (though not yuri in nature)
Yuru Camp
Tanaka-kun wo itsumo kedagure (? On spelling)
Acchi Kocchi

^I'm interested in that as well. A friend wanted some action serie to get into Yuri, but i didn't have much that fitted the criterias. (though my friend is older than your sister so adult content wasn't necesarily out of the question, just not the blatant fanservice shots or design, due to personal taste)

Well, assuming your friend's reaction to Isekai isn't to immediatly recoil in abject terror, I'd recommend Virgin Road, a.k.a. The Executioner and Her Way of Life. It's action packed, has a fairly interesting shounen-esque plot and can be perfectly enjoyed for something other than the yuri - which there is plenty of, and it's not subtle. It's also widely available, be it as LN, Manga, Anime or Audio Book.

(Anyhow, what I ended up gifting were concert tickets and Vol.1 of Dog & Scissors which was on her wishlist. I am very much confused.)

Now that I'm here again: anything with intersex representation? I can't believe the last time I read about that was Go Get a Roomie!

does anyone know of any yuris that's like themed around ice-skating? idrc much for other details, just that being a big plot point would be nice

Not a manga but do you know Spinning by Tillie Walden?

There's probably worse, but the first one that immediately came to mind was Nanashi no Asterism.

  • Omega Heroine Wants Her Alpha Villainess
  • Your Taste Is a Little Sweet
  • Spiteful Affection
  • Omegaverse Sisters
  • You Are My Soulmate

What I can think of so far. There's more. I'll add them if I remember.

Oh yeah, this one was pretty bad. Let me re-read this and jog my memory. Thanks!

it's hard to imagine anything worse than that.

at the risk of getting back on topic,
what's your favourite (adult) manhwa series not set in Seoul, or manga series not set in Tokyo — I can only think of Suito-to! right now.

When you say 'adult,' I take it you mean grown-ups. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be Throw Away the Suit Together. It’s incredibly wholesome and realistic in portraying the struggles of adulthood. hope this helped! :)

I'm not sure if I know any ice-skating series, but if you're interested in yuri series that include sports while still focusing on the romance, here are a few that I enjoyed reading -
• Cirque Arachne – It’s about two girls who work as acrobats. Their relationship develops slowly and sweetly, and the acrobatics are still a big part of the story. (https://dynasty-scans.com/series/cirque_arachne)

• Salieri & Mozart (Manhwa) – Two swimmers who start off as rivals but grow closer as the story goes on. There’s a lot of focus on swimming, though the romance feels a bit lacking. Still worth reading (https://lilymanga.net/ys/salieri-mozart/)

• Tsubame Tip Off! – Basically a yuri story about girls playing basketball, but it dives deep into both the sport and their relationships. (https://dynasty-scans.com/series/tsubame_tip_off)

• The Love Doctor (Manhwa) – This one’s mostly about the romance, but a few characters are ballerinas, though it’s not a major focus. It’s really adorable and well-written though, so I definitely recommend it.

yes, that's what i meant

I'm a 40 year old (trans) woman who chases her 5 year old daughter thru the house five days a week to put her in a school uniform. I don't want my escapism to be school children. especially since I spent most of my teenage/school years being a delinquent nerd making very bad decisions lol

Thank you, I'll check it out right away
I too moved with my partner to an island.
unfortunately, it doesn't quite look like this one

the tomboy category is pretty scarce, and I don't know who to ask
been looking for a bit and i really cant find any (good ones):
butchxbutch.......... OR ANY YURIS WITH A BUTCH GIRL! because i cant be picky
it would be refreshing to read a yuri that doesnt only have femmes
which is most of them but i know most people like them
sad face.....help

I don't have much for you, but there is a (aptly titled) anthology "Boyish² Butch x Butch Yuri Anthology", available in English and Japanese. I've heard there is or will be a volume 2 of that anthology, too.
this One shot from a while ago as well
https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/joint_training_camp_love_love_boyish (this artist seems to like tomboy x tomboy, but don't have any stories translated online)
Not quite what you're looking for, but If I'm not mistaken Mieri Hiranishi had a autobiographical Manga where (among other things) she talked about being a butch attracted to butches. Her works have been removed from Dynasty-scans.

I have a recommendation, though it's a manhwa. It's called All's Nice, and one of the main characters, Bora, is an open butch lesbian. I think you'll like her character. Currently, only 8 chapters have been translated since it's a new series, but the translator on Bato has been consistent with updates. Hope this helped! :) https://mto.to/series/153158/all-s-nice

Do You Like Tomboys? on Webtoons is one I started following; although, their definition of "tomboy" might be a little different from mine.

thanks so much! and to the other recommendations under this one too : D life savers, haha now i have a great list to read!
once again i really wish the butch/boyish/tomboy (whatever you want to call it) category was more popular. it seems though, according to some of the manga/manhua you guys recommended, it is gaining a bit of traction as most of these are pretty recently updated
thanks again everyone who helped : D, will check them out!!

So, with the new madoka magica movie (hopefully) coming out soon, I decided to rewatch the whole series and read a few doujins. Any recommendations? I'm looking mostly for comedy/parody, preferably post rebellion, focused on the MadoHomu pairing or the whole gang together. However, if you have any favourites more on the angsty side, do share those as well. Thank you :)

You're so right! I had read and really enjoyed some of their work in the past but couldn't remember who the author was. Thank you very much!

^ Explicitly on the spectrum, or is implicit okay? (Not that there's a lot.)
Water Depth comes to mind, though it's never actually stated.
