They need to see both therapist and doctor because it looks like Yuna's psychological problem might be affecting her body so much. Rena should consider talking with Yuna about her condition. This has gone too long and becoming very worrisome.
Morinaga Milk series are always so stressful to read lol. So much meandering over giant red flags just to create constant tension/drama.
Ffs take her to the doctor already, why was Chibi's medical issues taken way more seriously than Yuna's
she is giving me borderline personality disorder vibes, and just crashed after being in a constant state of stress. She definitely has a mental illness that is not being addressed. It’s actually sad to see. :( but it hits home…
The manga is so unsettling. This is great.
Eek! Rena san!! When Yuna san is awake, it's not about making love with her , it's about talking to her directly about this sleepiness problem and get herself checked -_-
That being said, when we readers are worried about Yuna san's health, Morinaga sensei goes
Let's delay more about Yuna san 's development and talk about some flashbacks and..holy, Rena san decided to make out with Yuna san in front of the laptop. That's soooooo dangerous!!!!!
Ok.. I should stop being a worrywart.
This is my first time I really really cared about the characters in manga.
Please don't let this manga be a tragedy..
I mean I can read tragedy manga just fine .. but if it's a happy fluffy love yuri stories,it would be awesome. But I also know that I can't ask for more...
What am I thinking..??? Eeek! This manga has made me overthinking
...Wait!
I think I kinda know what Yuna san is currently going through.
The sleeping beauty syndrome, also known as the Kleine-Levin syndrome.
Symptoms of the condition usually start in early adolescence, and episodes of sleepiness decrease in frequency and severity over a median course of 14 years.
No cures or behind reasons triggering this but this syndrome is real. I remembered reading an article about a teenager suffering this syndrome spent most of her time on bed. Some even sleep for years and miss his or her entire school years.
But with time, the syndrome starts to wane and the person will be back as normal.
Though it shocks me to know that with Yuna san 's age, her having this syndrome..is kinda late? I mean, usually when I read the articles, people who have this syndrome are in their early 10s-20s... And when the syndrome kicks in, instead of Yuna san 's waking up for like few hours then sleep again, the person will end up in a long hibernation mode, sometimes weeks and months ...(Referring to the articles I've read before)
The other possible illness that Yuna san might have, and the worse one would be narcolepsy. When this triggers, she would just end up sleeping without knowing. She could lost her muscle control ability and just fall over when this strikes. This is much much much harder to live with because it really affects her life forever, and worse off, it has no cures for this illness.
So Yuna san could just walk , and suddenly she could just drop to the ground and fall asleep without warning, and Rena san has to sit by her side and waits until she wakes up..
Either way, it's still a bad illness for Yuna san.

Jesus Christ. TAKE HER TO A DOCTOR.
Do they not have sleep doctors there???
This is really getting worrying...

This.
This manga might be Morinaga Milk's weirdest work. I don't understand why the deeply concerning health issues aren't being addressed, treated seriously, or anything. They're kind of there to just make everything feel weird and awful.
Yuna might just drift away at this point. I DON'T WANT THAT!!!!!

It's a bit baffling. At the end of the last chapter Rena thought about how Yuna should see a doctor. Then she decides this chapter that maybe things are ok as they are? I guess the author is trying to depict Rena as being in denial about Yuna's condition?
With all this buildup, I'm almost certain the other shoe is going to drop in some deeply unpleasant way. Either some accident caused by her falling asleep (like her near drowning in the tub last chapter) or them finding out about some major underlying condition.
I'm kinda dreading reading the next chapter now.

I will once again wish this doesn't turn into a tragedy and be utterly upset when it does.
Definitely not reading this as a specific sleep disorder, despite being disordered sleeping. I think this chapter goes through the details to make me interpret this as a symptom of anxiety and depression, which I've definitely been seeing noticing signs throughout the read. I don't know enough about BPD to concur w the poster above, but I think we're seeing similar signs. It's a coping mechanism.
Her stress is so high because of her inability to talk about what's actually on her mind (because she thinks everything will crumble if she voices anything, despite Rena's assurance). All that stress is physically exhausting. And she doesn't want to be alone, to dwell on all those questions and stress and any potential answer or consequence that could change the status quo, so she sleeps through the day to avoid it. When she wakes up, Rena is there, so everything must be fine. If it wasn't fine, Rena would be gone. So she goes back to sleep. It's the closest one can get to limbo while time still passes.
It's a bad coping mechanism, but one I understand. And we've already seen her being very prone to getting overwhelmed, this is just that to a higher, more debilitating degree. Yuna really hates herself, at some point she even said when she was alone that taking care of Chibi was the only reason she should exist at the moment. Real concerning stuff. I don't think Rena knows how to deal with it, or even know the signs, which is why she just hasn't done anything yet. I think they have hope still but fr. Therapy. NEEDED.

Therapy...in manga? Therapy doesn't exist in manga! :P
Ok a few more thoughts lol that I'm sure people touched on before, but it also seems like she treats sex and a defense and solution. At the start of their relationship, she thought of sex as something she needed to 'give' to Rena to make her stay. At this point I'm fairy certain she just, y'know, enjoys it, but in her state rn she knows it's something that makes her happy and Rena happy, so as long as they keep doing it, they'll always be happy. And again, I don't think Rena sees any of this as a red flag, because she likes sex! She's the one who suggested the two day binge! And if anything she's might be thinking it's a relief Yuna has enough energy to have sex despite being tired all the time, it could be seen as a good thing.
But even if she just, like, really horny now, no undertones, she's still using it defensively! If all they do when she is awake is have sex, they don't need to talk about anything, and she falls asleep right after, so nothing at all can be said.
Thank you, I just read the whole series up to now, I had thoughts, I had worms.
edited bc I messed up names orz autocorreeeeect

My guess is because of how bad the current condition for psychological help system in Japan is, Rena really just doesn't understand how much Yuna really needs help. She sees the sleeping problem but doesn't grasp how deep it goes or what she can do about it (hence we see her reading up about it but not yet finding something that clears things up a bit more for her).
Rena seeing Yuna work around her sleeping problem is probably making it hard for Rena to bring up the doctor. It's definitely not helping that these two have trouble communicating.

Yeah it's weird how the doctor element feels dropped from chapter to the next, while the dread is only building.

That's definitely a possibility with the state of Japan's mental health system. I wonder also if Morinaga Milk is aware of how concerning the health conditions are here. It feels like she has yet to fully and properly acknowledge there being an actual problem here, and that's part of what makes this work feel so scary for me.
I will once again wish this doesn't turn into a tragedy and be utterly upset when it does.
I really hope this doesn't go full tragedy.

Please take your girlfriend to a hospital!

"She's fine! She's just adopting a cat-like sleeping pattern of napping 16 hours a day!"
- Rena, apparently
Procrastination, coping, "maybe it'll go away", and denial are all perfectly realistic, even if they seem nuts to an outside observer.

To a point I'd agree, however for me it's crossed over a line where it's more frustrating than realistic. Those factors can be realistic, however an author can also handle them poorly. Maybe in the future once we can look back on the full picture or at least more of it I'll feel differently. For now I'm just not enjoying the way the health element is handled.
presumably Rena is prioritizing her move to become independent while trying to at least still have sex anyway, but what's bothering me about it is that the whole scene here is quite dubious and the whole thing with not being able to be fully honest makes their whole relationship and the sex in particular even more dubious and yet it's still not really explored or fully acknowledged. It feels like there's this sudden shift of focus to sleep issues right where a lot of other feelings have been bubbling up for a while, in a way that feels like an attempt to stretch things out and escalate further than they otherwise would. And then Rena forces herself on Yuna, and it's not really presented in the best way almost as if it wasn't that far from their usual time, and it just kind of ends up with this implication that Rena is getting impatient instead and wants to be independent already, but is suddenly not getting as much from Yuna as she used to. It feels like a situation that could've been resolved earlier without having to be escalated so far, and the inclusion of sleeping problems feels a bit too, for lack of a better word, out of convenience, like a really easy way to trigger more feelings. It's not really unique to Morinaga, most drama is escalated further than it has to be and tends to be one of the only things some authors rely on to introduce change, but still even if it's realistic it doesn't mean it's the best way to follow things up. It's not really clear what tone this manga is supposed to have anymore and how much Rena's forcefulness is going to be relevant in future chapters, but it could potentially get really ugly
I think it would be pretty absurd to end on a tragedy in a manga with as cutesy and soft of a title as "My Cute Little Kitten". So I'm guessing it's all psychological and temporary they just need to finally properly talk
