It’s too bad they are high schoolers. I had a legit BA-THUMP moment for Hiiragi in the first chapter. This reminds me a bit of that het manga that’s being uploaded right now of the guy that only wants to draw nudes, something about the facial expressions I think

tsubame became mega compelling at the end there. was that her mother? she and sakura are both isolated and detached from other people, and it's easier to see in sakura with her anxiety, but there's this clear thread of tsubame not connecting on an emotional (vulnerable?) level. she has this strong admiration for art and creation, and the humanity in that? the peek into a person's world you get through their work. i totally understand that too. i feel like it's easy to love art by others, but much harder to bare your own soul in the same way, and without that nothing you create will really leave an impact. it's the awkward, messy, ugly parts of ourselves that make us human (real), after all

This was a cool idea, and it did fool me as well (the horror of seeing "Hiiragi" invite a seemingly random student to the stage was real). However, I kind of pitied Hiiragi. I'm not sure how Akutsu thought this would restore her image to the students, to be honest.

I've really enjoyed this manga so far and I'm expecting the author has a lot in store for us.

I like how the reaction to Tsubame being weirdly upset about Kuze being able to mimic her perfectly was "yeah let's do exactly that but even more literally"

Had anyone else accepted it, they could have had her also accept it in the back, and then just pick her over the other volunteers.
