Who are Sayaka and Miyabi

Characters from way back in Volume 2. It's been so long since we've seen them that I haven't written Miyabi's name in a script even once in the 2.5 years I've been translating this series, until working on this extra. Translation coming soon!

Sayaka is a first-year who recently joined the student council and is a self-loathing lesbian trying her hardest to ignore her feelings for Miyabi, they were the focus of Volume 2.

I find funny that people are saying they don't care about them when one of the things people criticized of citrus was the addition of new characters who vanished after their story was done. Personally, I thought it was a nice coda to their story.

Squeezing more romance in a small extra than the entire series so far.

How was this extra more lovey-dovey than the last twenty chapters combined?

I find funny that people are saying they don't care about them when one of the things people criticized of citrus was the addition of new characters who vanished after their story was done. Personally, I thought it was a nice coda to their story.

While I get what you mean, when the story of the main cast has been on the back burner for this long, it's only natural that readers don't care to revisit two random characters that appeared in a volume three years ago. In my opinion, the problem with citrus wasn't so much that the new characters disappeared, it was that they appeared in the first place, whenever the author didn't know how to continue the story. The fact that they disappeared immediately after the conflict was resolved only confirmed that their existence had no real purpose, but it wasn't in itself the problem.

That being said, I think these characters in particular were more interesting compared to others we've seen in the past, so perhaps there is something more they can offer. However, it's been so long since we last saw them that I barely remember them, if I'm being honest.

This one kiss page is better than a vast majority of the recent Citrus+ chapters. I wish the author would focus more on simple moments like this than drumming up more drama.

If China likes it that explains the censorship. Either way, Citrus is a masterpiece and I'm happy for Sabroota's success. Citrus+, has not been something the west has liked, but maybe that's down to China? Or not.

The author has not been able to write good characters mostly in this portion. I guess it's too bad she couldn't start a new story. I really wanted a spinoff for Harumin and Matsuri.

I wish she could be allowed to drop Citrus now and make a new work of her own design, in the vein of original Citrus.

If there was just some of the sweet coupley moments with Mei showing the little bit of emotions like she had in this extra sprinkled throughout Citrus+ there wouldn't be nearly as many people complaining about the series.

I believe the Takenoko Fortune thing is a reference to Shiitake Uranai (しいたけ占い - Shiitake Fortune), which looks to be a website that posts weekly fortunes for each horoscope sign.

That was cute and I only realized now that Sayaka and Miyabi's relationship is essentially Mei and Yuzu's but reversed. With the stoic one madly in love with the bubbly one (although Miyabi is way, way denser than Yuzu)

Is good to see that Sabu seems to have found inspiration again and seems to be eager to work on citrus for a while.

I don't think that's ever happening "on screen." Did the author promise that at some point or am I missing something? She does not seem interested, but people seem to really expect it. The implications of the previous extra's final scenes is likely as much as it'll go, maybe a bit more but I would hold my breath. Even with it's opening chapters, it's never really been that type of series.

I think because Citrus has/had this rep of this steamy taboo romance. So I think people believe it should have happened by now, a lot of the early expectation as far as I remember was basically what FlowerChild's works ended up being, where their manga focus on a messy highly sexual toxic relationship.

Plus various other long running Yuri manga have had some kind of sexual encounter, even if it happens off page, it's something that has definitely happened. Citrus for having this spicy rep surprisingly hasn't gone very far with it.

It had "spicy" scenes mostly earlier on but the tone and direction wasn't that way and it's been years since then so it's interesting that the expectation still lingers. Citrus seemed to be making a point earlier on about its characters' mental states and that was it. It's really been an "innocent" series even when those scenes were present.

The issue isn’t for me about “fucking” per se but about the trajectory of the characters, especially Mei. As has recently been pointed out, OG Mei was a Proper Japanese Lady masking a smoldering volcano of emotion—sexual desire, yes, but also, among other things, grief over the “loss” of her father. Her resistance to going all-in sexually with Yuzu was more about struggling to keep herself under control rather than about fending off Yuzu’s advances.

It’s easy to forget that the start of the benighted “Second Arranged Marriage” arc interrupted a Mei-Yuzu makeout session that both had been longing for. Ever since then Mei has consistently been transformed from a firecracker (h/t to Altair for the phrase) into a damp mop.

Had readers still been getting regular doses of those Mei-Yuzu hickey-leaving competitions of the past I’m pretty sure there would have been fewer laments about “when will they fuck?”.
