As someone who's been following the WN since it first got fantl-ed I've been looking forward to this.
Art-wise it's good, but somehow I feel like it doesn't quite match the vibes the story has at later chapters.
I heard it's a monthly manga, and considering it seems like they're covering one WN chapter per manga chapter and we're at chapter 340 now, we're in for a long ride.

Is there a way to explain what's so appealing about it without spoiling?

I think a lot of what makes this great comes from the internal monologue, which I do fear won't translate well to manga.
We alternate POV between Miyagi and Sendai every few chapters and both have emotional hangups about deepening their relationship. Reading them work through them and slowly progress the relationship is both rewarding and frustrating at times.

I'd say it's similar to Adachi to Shimamura by having 2 seemingly neurodivergent protagonists kind of bumble about their relationship with each other. But Shuukura is spicier and does a fantastic job of writing emotionally intimate and (slight spoiler) sexually intimate scenes.

I also prefer the laser focus on Sendai and Miyagi's relationship over the detours we get with the side couple and alien in Adachi to Shimamura.

In short, if you like Adachi to Shimamura but wish it had a bit more spice, angst, and focus on the main couple's progress, this is exactly what you're looking for.

Maybe it's following the LN instead of the WN? Feels like they'll condense multiple Sendai/Miyagi POV chapters into one manga chapter. Either way, I'm really happy that it finally got a manga adaptation.

Didn't really feel much with this first chapter, it's too "in media res" and didn't really establish their feelings for each other, except one's extremely shallow reading of the other as a generic popular girl. If there's something here that's good, it doesn't seem to have arrived yet.

Makes sense. It's only the 1st chapter and generally media like this usually needs at least a few chapters to get into the groove of things. That's part of why I'm reserving my opinions till maybe around 4-6 chapters or so, as the series finds more of it's footing and expands on the characters.

Looking at Seiyuu Radio and the fact that Shuukura got a Drama CD after winning a contest, chances of this one getting an anime in a few years is not at all impossible. As long as this one gets more traction, we can still keep dreaming.

Sure, but judging solely based on that first chapter it's a weirdly shallow perspective for someone close enough to pay her to lick her feet. It's the perspective you'd expect from a character thinking about someone they've never talked to, only seen from afar or something.

Sure, but judging solely based on that first chapter it's a weirdly shallow perspective for someone close enough to pay her to lick her feet. It's the perspective you'd expect from a character thinking about someone they've never talked to, only seen from afar or something.

You know, their current relationship (even by this feet-licking time) is actually the latter. It will be explained later on (I supposed by next chapter) of how they got into this weekly money paying situation.

It's a promising (and hot) start, let's see where it goes from here.

I like this one better due to them being almost equal/even playing ground instead of one person being in complete control. Like Popular girl enjoys teasing low-tier social girl but while she is being [submissive] she won't let low-tier social girl off being in total control. They call each other perverts too~

It also helps that they already been hanging out already 3-4 times at least from the dialog...and this is the most lewd thing they did together...It obvious popular girl is ('Somewhat') interested in low-tier social girl [Our MC]

That's not a bad guess, although the motivations are a bit different, at least at first. I also recommend checking out the first chapter of the novel for insight on what's going on in Miyagi's mind during the whole licking ordeal. If you don't mind mild spoilers (the manga will probably get into this stuff later), here's a summary:
Rather than ordering to lick her feet to satisfy some sexual urge, Miyagi is just taking out her general frustrations in life on Sendai and is deliberately asking her to do something she believes Sendai would find issue with. Problem is, Sendai is a genuinely bafflingly accommodating and flexible person, so she just goes ahead with the order against Miyagi's expectations.
Miyagi does enjoy the feeling of control, especially over someone she sees as unapproachable in her regular life, but in the novel when Sendai tries to make it into something more explicitly sexual ("So you actually find this fun, huh? In that case, while I’m at it, should I make it feel good as well?"), Miyagi actually reels from it and tells her to knock it off, because she's not ready to interrogate the whole "getting aroused from this" part of the equation just yet.
Also, Sendai is not without agency here. In fact, the reason Miyagi looks so dissatisfied at the end there is because she felt Sendai herself was the one getting the upper hand and doing whatever she wanted and even ordering her around, when that's clearly not supposed to be their roles. I think it's very emblematic of their relationship moving forward

I chewed through the whole web novel a couple of months ago and completely forgot they were adapting it to manga.

While it's definitely not bad so far I can see it'll definitely be a struggle to adapt a story that mainly consists of internal monologues without losing what really makes their relationship compelling. There is so much that goes on in the little details of their actions that can't effectively be translated visually.
The art style makes Sendai seem like she's a much bubblier person than she really is with Miyagi, so I'm wondering how they're going to portray her "people pleaser" persona later on when she's consciously masking and it's not being filtered through Miyagi's perception of her. If they even get that far I guess.

TwT no one reads WN/LNs so I'm excited to see it get so much attention. This one occupied my brain for months so it's great to finally have an outlet. My friends aren't really into this stuff and I don't think I could sell them on ~300 chapters of MTL web novel even if they were.
