Forum › Unaware His Majesty Is a Girl discussion
rainbow8:
Seems implied that she has become quiet aware that "His Majesty" is a girl. Unless there's some other reason for trimming her nails after looking at lesbian porn?
Nail trimming can be for butt stuff (or any caressing without accidental scratching). If she hasn't switched to straight guides later, she may have used yuri knowledge to come up with something that'd also work on men.
Nene:
When she asked the general for ecchi doujin books and got only yuri ones, she thought: "Could it be that the general too has found the secret of the emperor?"
The empress could be wondering if the general knows about emperor's dysfunction but I'm not sure how that ties to explicit yuri (is it less depressing to look at, or maybe he'd be looking for a way to please his wife in other ways?). She also said to the emperor that he doesn't need working male parts (implied) for sexy times, which he'd already know from his own reading of yuri erotica if he were a woman.
Eagletanker:
they're seemingly just fine with being a guy, and don't really seem interested in being a girl.
With a mother like that it's doubtful she has any say on that and you're seing either indifference from having a long time to get used to it or ingrained palace mannerism showing.
Gabinomicon:
Well dang, that is probably the most erotic thing I've ever seen published in a Chinese comic lol. I wonder if this chapter was originally only on twitter instead of Bilibili, I've seen other Chinese comics do that like Here U Are and I think Bai Lijin Among Mortals (not totally sure where that series had its "extras" published) but nothing quite that.... sensual. Certainly nothing with that much unambiguous discussion of what they're doing mid-scene lol.
Dunno about Bilibili itself but on other sites the lewder panels in this chapter are opaque white rectangles.
That said, check out Warning! Beware of the Dog past what's been translated so far for similarly unambiguous kinky hate sex.
@Empress' diary entry:

@XadarxBlack:
I get the feeling you'd manage to complain about the friendship in Heroine's Isekai Monster Wives Harem. Your myopic view of the story and unwarranted discrimination of manhua aside, for many manhua, including this one, the works in the original language are much further ahead and you can find the raws and machine translations online and see for yourself if they'll be able to satisfy you.
Methinks the General is courting a princess.

Mmm, good point, forgot that even if she wanted to, kicking her mom out would be a no no. I do get the keep your head down and get out aspect though
And to whoever it was that posted that long text screed replying to me, (which, hi you completely misread that as a complaint about the story rather than just wondering out loud okay back to the joke/snark), heres a quick reply!
"If your wondering how they eat and breathe,
and other science facts,
just repeat to yourself it's just a show,
I should really just relax,

Can someone please explain the last few panels? I'm a little lost here.

The chapter ends on the panel where Qi Nian's mother appears. The next panel is an aside, showing Tantai Lan copying rules as context for the lines at the beginning explaining her presence in the palace.

She gave the empress naughty books and she's being punished for it.
Well, I guess the cover spoils how the fear of cats is going to turn out...
Anyway, question to the people theorizing here: do we even have any credible confirmation of the Emperor's biological sex? I've been thinking, and for what I know they could have been born intersex or simply be transfeminine with severe dysphoria and the story would still work so far.

The series summary and the premise are based on the idea that the mother forced her daughter to lie for political gain--we've also seen her in private, heard her thoughts on the issues, and had her friend (who knows the situation) present them with a "gift" about lesbian sex etc. Beyond that, the series doesn't go into more specifics and nothing else has been hinted.

Adorable. ^_^

There's the title of the series? Unless it's badly translated. And the blurb, though I don't know who wrote that.

To slightly expand on these points:
The last panel of chapter 1 shows almost all of emperor's body (showing more is not possible due to the intended age rating or publisher's restrictions), it's impossible for the emperor and the empress to have children together, he's not impotent or anything adjacent, he absolutely can't reveal to anyone what's down there lest the secret is out, having both sets of genitals would make deceiving the empress much easier as he'd only have to show or use the male side, the emphasis on being empress dowager's son or empress' husband in public (including the "he" in quotation marks in chapter 9 - "他"什么性子哀家能不知道? in the original version).
Oh the tags have changed I wonder wh-
Oh, welp, now the premise of the story doesn't really make sense anymore.Though, I do wonder why the emperor isn't just left ambiguously transmasc, considering they're seemingly just fine with being a guy, and don't really seem interested in being a girl.
Ok i got it, is this story pretending to be one of thous chinese stories that has “yuri” tag but also the cross-dressing tag so we get what i feel is an STRAIGHT romance story were even in the chapter 15 we got the other supposed “lesbian/bisexual” MC having SEX with HER HUSBAND, how is this YURI?!?!?!?!
I’m sorry but i don’t see anything yuri in this story, is it gonna change? will we EVER address the idea of the EMPEROR being a women? or the idea of two women in an relationship? we will EVER see the concept that no, relationship between straight people is different from gay ones? or will the MC suddenly be OK with her supposed HUSBAND being a WIFE?!?!?!?
there was one other Chinese novel that i coudn’t finish reading were the General was hiding her gender and for some stupid reason, we don’t get the other MC to know that the General was a women while the Princes was so gay she made sure the General was USED AS A PAWN WITH NO MERCY cuz he was a MEN! (abd the general fell for the princes so she did whatever the princess ask of her) that farce of an supposed “Yuri romance” HAPPEN AT THE END! 1/5 of the story with 0 romance with only the GENERAL being in love with the princes! the ROMANCE didn’t exist at all cuz the author forgot to build ANY relationship with them because the princes didn’t found out the general was a women early.
this story will need some solid exploration of the relationship they have AFTER the MC finds the emperor true gender! but i do wander if an Chinese story can pull it off were even the Japanese mangas shy away from the concept of “Sexual Orientation”
...are you okay?
Yea I’m ok? ranting about a story doesn’t make some one not ok, don’t have an medical research for that so? way asking such a question?

I'd like to point out being intersex does not mean having two sets of genitalia. It simply means that at birth, you have something that means you don't fall neatly into masc or femme when you're born. It can be that you have both bits, but it's also possible to have boy bits with your balls in your body, or a enlarged clitoris that makes it hard to tell if it's a boy bit or a girl bit, or that you have neither gonads, or anything in between that doesn't fit either masc or femme categories neatly.
Anyways I am sorry for bringing up the idea that the there could be a double twist of the emperor being transmasc, can we please go back to being flustered over the general

Apologies for oversimplifying it in my comment. I did consider internal anatomy and differences on genetic level (I discarded them as not something an ancient midwife or physician would be able to identify, and so not something that could come up as a plot twist), and filtered external stuff through "could it be argued (by the people of that time) looking or touching down there that the emperor is a boy (making at least some of the secrecy and reactions unwarranted)".
Inusfficient development of both could make the story into "His Majesty is Not a Girl but a Eunuch", given the setting.
The topic is fine. Things will return to flustering once the next chapter is out (or turn to complaining about the mother and bad parenting if story on emperor's childhood is continued).

What's your profile pic?
What's your profile pic?
It's a recolour of the cover art/animation drawn by Kamin (minillustration) for the Blackout! song by maeshima soshi and suisoh.
When is the "emperor's" gender going to be relevant? Like what are we doing here, author? Either do something about the bitch empress and move on or scrap this and write a manga where the main premise is in any way relevant.
Chapter 17 has the general making expressions like a gyaru gossiping in class, and it's great.

How is it not relevant? Everything revolves around it. It seems like you're not quite asking the question you really want to ask. Are you frustrated that the MC hasn't found out yet?

Tantai Lan, how can you constantly be so insanely cool ?! Well, gotta admit, she also dodged a bullet destined for herself right there with Qi Nian's silly idea. But it's almost symbolic how the general is constantly acting in the shadows to thwart the empress dowager's plans and support all of her victims.
And Yu Dingdang is still being as cute, honest, and smarter than she looks. We'll see the emperor's reaction next chapter, but I think the plan to make her protect both the cat and her empress is surprisingly smart and caring.
Heck, even Rantao, Cuitao and Ming Wei were looking out for Yu Dingdang in a lovely way. For all the I hate the empress dowager, she's really good at setting up occasions for all the protagonists and side characters to step up.

I wouldn't be surprised if that is Tantai Lan's specific role in the court, and why she has been hanging around the palace ever since the Emperor's wedding so much. Since she is a military officer, rather than a career courtier, she is somewhat shielded from courtly intrigue, making it easier for her to act under the Dowager's nose.

That and Tantai is currently wooing her future partner, Ming Wei. Let's not forget that!

I'm not sure if she is really "shielded" from the intrigue. Apparently, there is a frontier pass somewhere waiting for her, and if anything, a punitive relocation seems to be easier than having to stage an incident to get rid of whoever else.
I also don't understand why to pick Tantai Lan specifically. Sure, childhood friends, but you can't tell me that outside of her, Yu and Ming (who is still an option?) there are no other nobles around who would fit the role - especially since it seems Yu was also pulled out of thin air all of a sudden.
This silly empress learn how to keep the pussy alive xd
