I don't really see that reality, Jun and Akane has never been on equal footing, Akane sees Jun as a little sister. Their relationship is closer to when Finn the human was crushing on Princess Bubblegum in early adventure time.

I feel with time it could progress to a point of equal footing, and Jun doesn't have to be always seen as a little sister. There's always paths to various kinds of endings and character progression, just a matter of time and writing. I think the author is probably going with a monogamous ending though, so it is what it is. I'm curious if we'll get at least some happy conclusion for Jun or not, or if we're going to rush to the end and she gets left behind.

I mean I certainly wouldn't count on a poly ending the way things have been set up so far

BUT

There are a couple things to keep in mind.

First of all, the author was interested enough in the idea of a threesome to draw at least a couple pictures of it. If the idea were off the table on some basis of ethics or aversion/squick we definitely wouldn't be getting a couple panels depicting it!

Second of all, I'm not convinced we're supposed to take Jun's argument about the distinction between idolization and love uncritically. If anything it's almost the opposite, that idol cutlure tries to market itself in a way that breaks down a distinction between person and product, to try to turn that sort of possessive feeling into acts of consumption. The whole thing about parasocial relationships, that's what they're talking about. Hence why you get people feeling betrayed when an idol gets revealed to be in a relationship, why you get people who do creepy stalker stuff, and why you see people who vandalize their own possessions related to an idol when personal information gets out in public.

Given that Jun is very, very into that idol culture and also very, very single I think it's reasonable to say the story doesn't want us to take Jun's argument without a grain of salt. I certainly don't agree with it!

Maybe I'm jaded and Stockholm'd by slow manga but this chapter felt like it was too quick for the resolution. The logical part of my brain sees it's not, but the irrational emotional side is dissatisfied.

Akane is pretty darn dense, so there's a non zero chance that her sudden epiphany will be about something completely different and she'll still have no clue about being in love :P Also, David Attenborough could narrate anything and make it sound classy !

I was disappointed the story romance didn’t go fuck all and we got to porn garbage yet again, i guess you really need to be horny all the time otherwise you get tired of the porn in this hentai, sorry for thinking this was anything but hentai, ALSO my expectation for the Romance TAG were above 0.5/10 and was expecting to get to at least an 1/10 buttt UGH

To each their own-- I actually thought this was an incredibly creative way to incorporate sex with Akane's self discovery/realization. She's not the type of character to typically have these kinds of self-awareness so I thought it was a cute way to help her through the 3D watching of herself etc.

I don't think this series is for you. I mean, the whole premise of this is a collision between two fairly nice well-intentioned people, one of whom thinks relatively normally while the other is a sex robot who uses hentai logic. That drives the comedy, the characterization, the sexiness, and most of the plot. If you're not into it, you're going to be constantly annoyed by the series.
Honestly, I would have been disappointed if Nadeshiko had suddenly turned into a different character who made sense by normal standards. She's in love, she's even broadening her outlook a bit, but she's still a sex robot and her understanding of romance is going to be operating through that lens. It's funny, but at this point it's also consistent characterization.

It's chapters like this that make me wonder how capable Nadeshiko is of independent thought and will compared to the influence of her "Mom's" sexbot programming. The whole setup for this chapter was a fake out making us think she's gonna be serious and put aside sex for a moment, only for the "documentary" to just be one of her sexbot functions.
Of course, this also prompts questions about how comparable that "programming" is to any child raised on the ideology of their parents... Either way Nadeshiko could really use her horizons broadened lol. Hopefully she's capable of that, if not then Jun actually would be the better partner.
