Ruriko has always been pretty insecure about rule 6 because she always viewed it as Kurumi was going to leave her someday (rather than it being the exit door Kurumi intended to give Ruriko since from the get-go she's never seen herself falling for anyone). But now that Kurumi actually has romantic feelings for Ruriko and wants to show them, Ruriko thinks that Kurumi is just being more open with her generic non-romantic love and Did Not Want that anymore, and hated the show of affection because in her head she's no different than one of those paintings they just saw.

And now Kurumi thinks she was rejected and crossed a line. Oops.

I think Kurumi got smacked on the head instead of coming the face. Not sure if that makes things any better though...

Y'know, when I try and think of things that would cause me to slap someone, the resulting list is very short. Maybe the list would be longer if I was female? I dunno. I kinda doubt it, though. Physical violence just isn't my go-to reaction for...well, anything, really. So this chapter has a lot of values dissonance for me.
