I chalked the first time up to comedy but now she's really just being an over-the-top asshole, this is the kind of behaviour that would seriously fuck up a younger sibling's mental health if nothing intervenes. She needs someone who won't put up with her shit to give her some real-talk.

There has to be some sort of past trauma, Hiiragi doesnt even act this way to the most annoying person in the manga Utsugi. Rei was saying some romantic stuff even for her silly self last chapter cant wait for the rest of the volume then seeing best girl Yatsude on the cover for volume 3 <3

Honestly, that was a perfect punchline for the seriousness of the chapter hahaha

There's definitely been some serious falling out between the twins that we haven't yet been told of (possibly what resulted in Yatsude encountering the crying Tsubaki in which case it'd be quite recent and the wound still raw and bleeding) because Hiiragi's undiluted rancor is way above and beyond normal sibling squabbling, even allowing for their majorly conflicting personalities.

Tsubaki's huge siscon streak may well be a contributing factor if Hiiragi knows of it (which seems likely)...

Unlike Tsubaki, who's mostly friendless due to severe social anxiety issues and visibly suffers from it, Hiiragi gives the impression of being solitary out of preference and mostly plain uninterested in socialising with people - aside from Sensei who she ironically pesters not unlike Utsugi does her. Though she does seem to have started lowkey warming up to Utsugi's persistence rather despite herself, which she seems to find perplexing.

I know people like Hiiragi so I really feel bad for Tsubaki (assuming she didn't do something ridiculous in the past to piss her off like this)

Hiiragi such a piece of shit, but seeing as her tantrum in this chapter seemed serious its almost like we're set up for a sad backstory and a redemption arc like Shizuka from virgin's empire

I can say from firsthand experience that when someone really doesn't want to talk to you, never mind now as ferociously as Hiiragi, trying to force the issue like Tsubaki keeps doing is literally worse than useless. All it achieves is really pissing off the other party and aggravating the situation (potentially to the point of complete breaking of relations); it's generally better to leave them be so the worst venom dissipates with time and wait until they start extending olive branches, however tentative.

wow that's actually a rather complicated situation to be in. i had a teacher once who was a twin, and talked before about how hard it is to constantly be compared to each other. it looks like it's nothing that tsubaki did herself. just she was always the praised and favored one because she's smarter, which alone would cause feeling of jealousy, which can turn to hate. and because of the jealousy she started to treat her bad. and tsubaki on her part, just loves her sister and wants to get along, so getting treated bad by her sister destroys her self confidence. which starts her talking bad about herself, which in turn starts making hiiragi feel even shittier about herself because if someone as great as tsubaki is worthless, then what does that make her who is even worse? oof.
