Pretty sure I got diabetes from this, it's just so tragically adorable. I feel like I want to cry at her loneliness (specifically page 1 of chapters 1 and 2) but the drawings are super cute so I can't! Strangely touching, pretty funny, plus super cuteness and aliens!!!

I'm not sure it's a fetish so much as it is wish fulfillment. Although this is a big over generalization a lot of the people who read manga are socially withdrawn, lonely and shy so a story where some really interesting fun person comes up to the shy, lonely MC and wants to be their special friend is really appealing to them.

This is even more true in those sorts of stories where you see the shy MC learn to come out of thier shell and basically become the center of a harem of friends.
