What's fresh about it is the opposition is not because "they're both girls" but because everyone thinks Nami-san is so far out of her league. So the MC can throw that in their face when they get together.

If you view it as Mizuki having an unrequited crush on Nami, it makes sense as to why she doesn't feel she can call her on the phone all the time.

That was how I started off reading it, but Nami wrote ad copy that is literally a love letter addressed to Mizuki. That is a grand public gesture of affection, there's just no way Nami isn't into Mizuki.

In my company Boss-Subordinate romantic relationship is not allowed.
Nami might be leaving the company because she loves Mizuki and Chief-subordinate in a romantic
relationship formed at worked is not a good etiquette especially if you're the Boss. Might also be the reason why she encourage Mizuki to step up from her game.
I can see myself so much in Mizuki, with her "I can't do this" mindset on things that she have not tried due to lack of confidence but with words of encouragement from the right person everything becomes achievable.
