Morishima Akiko really wanted to give a happy ending to every character in this manga. YuriKuma Arashi is completed now. Yay!

Welp, I didn't like this much up to the very end.

wait did anybody actually die then?

Ending is open on that score.

It may even be that someone died, but the main characters are literally capable of making the world change with the power of their love, and so the setting has altered to make the person retroactively not have died. I won't insist on that interpretation, but it has certainly been made available.

I'll take that theory. xD
Also, when the history reach finally it's end, I will re-read it, because does a good handful of chapters I've lost the thread and I'm not sure where they come from what xD

This ending really lets you see how Morishima isn't used to writing such dark stories like Ikuhara intended.

Their combined efforts have succeeded in making me feel higher than that time I didn't sleep for just over 70 hours. An let me tell ya, at that point shadows start moving on their own.

Well, even the anime version of YKA had a happy ending... kind of? Though I'd concede that the anime is definitely a lot darker.

That omake though.

"A world with 100 times more happiness but 1000 times more complications".

True words.

So I really thought I would stop saying "what the fuck" on the last chapter.

I'm wrong.

I did a re-read, and yeah...still more questions than conclusions...and it feels completely unfinished---well I suppose that was the point tho right? adventure just beginning or something of that sort...?

Okay so this is beautifully drawn and an amazing story. But also rather confusing and mind boggling. Especially so with how drastically different it is from the anime, but when you slow down to think about it, things do start to make sense. 10/10 would read again.

You thought this was a yuri romance story? Surprise! It was actually a gun safety PSA.

Oh man, I read this before watching the anime... After reading a few comments, it seems that the anime is a lot different, so I guess I'll have to watch it. Just another entry onto my plan to watch list...

Holy shit, this manga is amazing. I loved the anime, but found it rather dark and disturbing. The manga (which seems to have been adapted from the anime?) takes the concepts and characters established in the anime, puts them in a real-world, real-life scenario, removes the darkness and tons of innocent schoolgirls being fucking eaten alive while preserving depth and drama, and overloads it with extra honest-to-goodness yuri (it seemed like the anime was hesitant to go full yuri, throwing the word "friend" around a bit too much for my liking). I really loved this version of the plot and the changes made to certain characters (in particular, Ginko, Yuriika, Kureha, and Sumika were more enjoyable characters for me in the manga version). This has quickly become one of my favorite manga, and, in my personal opinion, the definitive version of the story of Yuri Kuma Arashi. (The anime is still worth a watch though, plus it has one of my favorite OPs of all time.)

Now with that said: I really don't feel like the Supernatural tag is warranted on this series, since, unlike in the anime, everything that might be considered supernatural is explained away in some way. The manga appears to actually take place in the real world, rather than the fantastical city with impossibly huge walls dividing the human world from the bear world in the anime.

Edit: switched the paragraphs around, then some formatting

I didn't understand anything, quite interesting, but the fuck...? No one is dead? What?

I am going to have to reread this, I am as confused as I can get.

Surprisingly not, actually. I could be wrong, but the upload date for chapter 1 of the manga is 2014, and the first episode of the Anime was 2015. Which would mean the studio added the darker themes, and took most of the metaphors literaly. I'm not quite sure how anime adaptions happen though so I could be wrong.
