So the question is, what's the story with Qiu Tong's apparently absent parents. She seemed really lonely, and accustomed to just watching the people across the way live their lives. I don't recall her talking much about that in the past, so maybe something a bit more serious there?

They talked about it a bit the first time Sun Jing visited her house. Her parents work a lot so they're not around much. The chapter show how nice the place she lives is so I take it the typical story of "rich parent working so much that they neglect their child". It hurts Qui Tong (like how she's misses her father playing with her or envies that lively family) but she's a sweet girl and doesn't want to burden them.

Man, not many thing make me actually physically laugh.
But this series is just gold sometimes.
Like this last update. I click Next page and see "I'm here." Drenched in sweat. I lost it. xD She desperate.

looks like you were right about it being a bit more serious! Qiu tong lonely ever since her parents separated :( but now she got a new sun so.. ;)
