The story raises some good questions and thoughts, but fails to do anything with them. Too bad.
Pretty much this.
I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome though even though it's sorta "uhhh ok wtf was the point of that". At least it didn't go the "love overcomes everything!" trope.
I think the author should have just made them break up because it seems like the story is really about self discovery, discovering what you really want in a relationship, and if the "one" really is the "one" for you. It seems like they both totally disconnected at the end and aren't really sure about how they see each other in a romantic relationship anymore. They've both changed from this experience and I think it's revealed a lot about each other that they don't particularly find attractive. I was really disappointed to see they were still together in the epilogue (right after getting my hopes up when Ayumu talked about Masuda!) And even after asking if they were still together, Mori doesn't answer with certainty. By keeping them together in an unstable relationship after everything, the author just threw out any "moral story" that would have made this story really great and potentially revolutionary.
Eh it was a good read regardless, but I really mourn the potential it had.
