The author, Chise, is purely a writer. The artists assigned to her works have lots of flaws. The Bully one is fine with people; this artist has left out people's legs.

the artist in this particular manhua does seem to be taking shortcuts whenever possible. I actually really like their particular art style at least in places where they're remotely trying.

The cute artstyle is what drew me in TBH. I'm not a fan of most manhwa/manhua art, but I like this one. And honestly, I've become truly invested in what this artist thinks is worth rendering and what isn't. Like that one umbrella is fine, but a second umbrella? Too far. No judgement though. Drawing with full color everything gets exhausting in its own way.

Guessing they drew the first umbrella because they had to make it look wet from the drool but yeah I'm like super invested too lol. The art is rough but I'm not judging, comics take forever to draw

Are we very confident there're no AI-gen assets in the backgrounds? Someone used "non-Euclidean" earlier and I do think some of the objects and textures seem less clumsy and more totally divorced from coherent shape and space.

I don't think it's ai instead it seems to be awkward use and blending of some stock assets and cg, at least I hope anyhow because as long it's not ai I'm fine with it being rough around the edges

Thank you for the translation! This was such a cute chapter, I really love seeing domesticated Rachael!! I wonder when we'll be introduced more into the lore that we saw in the last two chapters that kind of introduced the importance of the saint's power.

I have a soft spot for this story. A couple with a complicated history because they were forced into it having to restructure their relationship (or rather start over on new grounds) once circumstances changed; it's a bit reminiscent of couples I knew that got together for very practical reasons or arranged marriages.

I don't think it's gonna get that deep but it would be nice if it did.

Well, I think she's right most people wouldn't want to deal with a partner who is barely restraining themselves from killing you. That's the implication of taking mana from someone dealing with mana sickness.

It explains a lot of Rachae's behavior. We see that she is responsible, so, for instance, if it had been a full moon she might have run away instead of taking care of Lin Xiya. Lin Xiya wouldn't literally die from being left alone with mana sickness, so it would be a reasonable choice from Rachael. However, from the other perspective, it would seem like Rachael abandoning her in her time of need.

Likewise, Rachael doesn't speak kindly a lot of the time because she doesn't feel she is acting kindly. She has a mental block around "acting like a nice person" toward Lin Xiya because Rachael would feel hypocritical. Rachael has even killed a lot of people, which doesn't usually get taken seriously in these types of stories, but in real life people often have some level of trauma over that. Even if we disregard the war trauma angle, it makes sense she is dealing with a lot of guilt over her behavior.

I think Rachel has just answered her own question: Xiya trusts her because she is always holding back as much as she can around her. Self-control is like a muscle: the more you apply it, the stronger it gets. Which is why Xiya is actually much safer around Rachel than the latter feels to be the case.
