Experienced sapphic here to let all the young sapphics in the audience know, please for the love of God do not assault your crush in her sleep

I think we all know that. But apparently there's some mangaka who don't.

So you believe this mangaka is promoting molestation, unaware that it’s not actually romantic?

For real, can we talk about the story and not having 20 comments about the same damn thing,we know that molestation is bad, we don't need 20 comment about it.

Maybe let people talk about what they want to talk about in relation to the content of the story. The comments complaining about comments are so much worse and are further removed from actually talking about the manga, which is what we're supposed to do here.

Seriously, I understand the annoyance at a lot of comments saying the same thing. But y'all are prolly going too far, any time conversation like this occurs.

As someone who is not taking any stances here, I have a gif that summarizes the usual mood with this site (and any discussion forum/post if we're honest).

My dawgs, the molestation being in a fictional story isn't the problem. the problem is the way it was played - shit made NO sense. God damn. You got the meek "waaah my best friend loves a boy" lesbian but usually the trope is self-punishing in her indulgence - think how Chikane's moral event horizon was specifically so she could die. They NEVER go past kissing in the sleep unless they're trying to get owned. It just didn't feel right, and the fact that it went completely unaddressed as if the scene that looked straight out of a fever dream was completely normal

(I will say I am kind of enjoying the manga out of a combination of masochism, destrudo, and nostalgia though)

(Looking at the author's other work on here, this manga might legitimately be old. And seeing the inclusion of furigana for even extremely basic kanji, it's definitely published in a shoujo magazine and not Yuri Hime.)

If anything, I think everyone complaining about the ending is serving its purpose. It's done to get some kind of emotion out of you, and it's generating plenty of "discussion" regarding the manga. Sorta like how no publicity is bad publicity.

Wish some of y'all would cut the shit where you make some implied accusations that the mangaka endorses the action simply by having it as part of the story though.

Well Yoh got a little creepy there at the end, didn't she. It's a bit of poetic justice when she found out that Misa had a wet dream about her beloved Sempi, because of it.
Obviously I'll be rooting for Yoh, but molesting the girl, she likes, in her sleep is going to make it harder.

Edit: Sometimes I'm not sure how a manga author wants us to perceive things. Are we suppose to look at Yoh molesting Misa as the depraved act, most of us would agree it is. Or are we suppose to see it as just Yoh's youthful feeling boiling over.
I've seen many things, in manga, that I would consider wrong, and in some cases even down right criminal, treated like it's no big deal. In Morinaga Milk's Sweet Lips, the girl literally tied up and raped her best friend as a confession of her love. Not to mention the tons of Age gap lolicon's that treat an adult dating a child as okay. So I'm really not sure how, Yoh having her way with Misa in her sleep, is suppose to make me feel about her character.

What’s funny to me is the more Yoh molests Misa in her sleep, the more Misa does dirty, I meant romantic, things to Senpai in her dreams.

This chapter is equivalent to the set up of a dirty joke by Red Foxx. I’m in for the raunchy punchline.

And I guess that’s why the mangaka made the first chapter this way—the controversial, taboo hook of molesting without repercussions. The more envelope pushing, the more sales the Yuri magazine is going to get. Titillating, shock media at it’s worst (finest).

I’m wondering how many people feel compelled to go into the comments of mystery stories in order to say, “OMG, you guys—murder is wrong! Don’t do this at home!” Or, “Detectives need to do things by the book, and not dole out justice by their own tough code of the streets! This is not right!”

And maybe waiting to see how Yoh’s actions are treated in subsequent chapters might yield a clue as to the author’s intentions.

It's certainly a compelling hook. I can't say I have seen too many of these start off with the female leads already sleeping together, but that's not necessarily a good thing in this case either. Yoh obviously has a lot of baggage and I am not sure I really want to find out what her deal is, but I'll follow along despite the rough start.

Well that's good point.

I don't need to "read the raws" when i can actually just read the chinese translation tho, nice try though (there was the spanish translation too, but translated from chinese up to chapter 9, so it was the same for me)

Personally, I read all 3 volumes in Japanese and I deemed it interesting enough to translate it.

But I guess I'll drop this then, since you think it's "pretty bad" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And yeah, the aesthetic is straight out from 2000s shoujo. It was like a blast from the past for me

I... I don't know how to feel about this manga. Depicting an act isn't the same as endorsing or excusing it I guess, so I guess it depends on how the stuff at the end gets treated in later chapters.

Uh, oh—bad behavior in a fictional story. Time to break out the torches and pitchforks.

(And for anyone out there delusional enough to believe that stories are guidebooks to proper behavior: they’re not. Please make a note of it.)

It's not that it's bad behavior, it's that it's bad behavior that falls directly in line with a harmful stereotype of LGBT people being predators. The idea that gay/lesbians folks take advantage of the lower boundaries people have around people of their same gender and will prey on them if they don't keep their guard up is offensive because most people wouldn't do something like that.

That, compounded with how it looks like it won't be caught/called out, leaves me feeling that this work isn't something I'd enjoy. Maybe it's because I grew up in the 90s, but the only lesbian being a molester, who is explicitly taking advantage of female only spaces/closeness rubs me the wrong way hard. Maybe it's different for the teenagers of today, but when I was in high school being seen that way was one of my biggest fears.

That isn't to say there are no lesbians who behave badly or do things like that, but, they're a small minority and deserve to be called out the same way straight molester should.

I hope this clarifies why it is not necessarily simply a matter of taste to those who think it's making a mountain out of a molehill.

This would be a good point... if sleep molestation were a fundamental trope in romance. But it's not, and the chapter didn't have the tag for like a whole day.\

Quibble about the notion of “fundamental” all you want—there are plenty of occasional or nonce tropes in all sorts of genres that don’t get these blindingly obvious “bad thing is bad!” responses that assume that other readers are unaware that bad behavior in fiction is “Not OK!” in real life.

Well, not everyone reading the stuff on the site is an adult with a fully developed brain, a veteran forum member, or a literature major. I think this means that the forum can't be a place where only "mature" discussion occurs, and that it isn't 100% pointless to point out bad behavior. As far as I know, it isn't against forum rules either, unless the objectionable element is already tagged, and thus can be avoided easily.

Considering the site hosts actual pornography, I'd like to hope that they were adults.

If they need to have bad behavior pointed out to them like they're a toddler I think they should probably not be on the internet at all.
