Ok, not trying to play the devil's advocate but i will try to explain Ito's mindset which is quite simple to figure. She is the kind of fan to put her idol/star above anything and see their persona as an ideal for them. They can't stand that their idol/star don't match up with the ideal they have in mind. Here Ito try to put Sumika back on the ideal Ito have despite Sumika who clearly don't want to be that ideal.Sumika is a victim of star system and Ito is one of the worst part of fandom.

I don't have anything mean to say. Everything on Ito's part feels justifiable and rejection is not a bad thing. I mean dang I sure would value a straight (pun intended), unambiguous, quick answer like that.

Sumika though. Girl's got some issues.Just fleeing without telling anyone is as irresponsible as you can get, and jumping in that pool wasn't exactly a brilliant idea and is only harmless at best. Also now their clothes are soaked, good going. But then again, that too is easily justifiable, I have no problem with it. :v

In the later case you get a friend. So that's the most bang for the buck making the former the lesser value. I mean, if it's the truth than it's the truth. Better to know it sooner rather than later. Then you can "give up gracefully" and move on as they put it in Aoi Hana.

I think it's because coincidences control the progression of the plot. In chapter 4 that senpai just magically appeared at the moment it would do the most damage. In this chapter Sumika confessed on the day Ito's brain got access to a entry level summary of philosophy that combined perfectly with her already messed up ideals.

The other one (the musician) was actually pretty cool... but HOLY SHIT the ex-idol was a toxic, pathetic pile of never-ending issues. Like from what I remember (forgive me if I'm wrong, it's been like 7 years) she was the instigator for ALMOST ALL of the drama. She even fucked a random dude at one point for some reason
