I don’t remember the name of the first baihe novel that got a eng release, but this one was (and maybe is even now idk) the most popular baihe in china at the time.

I will never understand the complains about manhua being perfect, japanese manga is the same but the aesthetics are simply different; bishojo, to the point we even have the perfect girl that suffers for being beautiful trope, etc. Maybe the rich part is handled different but and it’s still there sometimes. I assume is because more people are accustomed to japanese manga.
I actually think what makes people so aware of it is the full color part, when authors of manhua(and manhwa) post extra content in b&w it looks the same as a japanese manga.

Dynasty has blessed us with Miss Forensic! I read it a year or two ago but lost track of which chapter I was on, so having it here makes it much easier to keep up consistently! (^v^)-b

Personally, I think the glamorous aspect adds to the charm of baihe, I actually look forward to that aesthetic when reading them :) It also reflects beauty standards in China, so it makes sense that baihe often features such gorgeous characters, and I don’t see anything wrong with that. Even manhwa and manga has its own unique appeal focusing on their country's standards.

I was curious about this series and saw the official English stopped at 57 and hasn't been updated since September. Looking forward to it as I've heard great things!

I've heard about it in China and I've seen it's many many chapters, and what can I say...

First of all, there's no doubt that this is an extremely well-known and famous Baihe (Yuri but in China) manhua, packed with powerful protagonists fighting against evil and developing among themselves. Worth the time invested as of now (I've not finished yet) and I am very intrigued personally.

However, in literally every Chinese Yuri community discussion I've seen so far, this manhua is put forward as a mostly negative example. I'm not so sure why to be specific that so many people roasted it, I heard it's because of the actual Yuri development is not as much as they would have liked, or maybe the strong and rich female stereotype is getting too prominent and annoying for some reason (or maybe just men and women's/tops and bottoms' stereotypes in these Yuri manhua in general), or just simply because people believe it's quality doesn't match it's undeserved fame.

Anywho, this is still good stuff to me. I enjoyed it a lot, and follow both the Yuri hate-to-romance and the criminal mystery has been quite a treat, so looking forward to seeing more of it on Dynasty!

Yeah, 'knife residue' doesn't make much sense, does it refer to stab wounds which were caused by a knife (possible the knife in question), does it mean bits of metal broken off of that knife,...?

Also, breaking down the prosecutor's argument is the job of the defence attorney, not of an expert witness (except if it's different in China?). But then again, it's just a manhua, I should really just relax.

I've read some of this elsewhere the forensics specialist lady annoys me because she's out there trying to solve cases like she's a cop herself. Irl stuff would so get thrown out of the court if she went and did her own investigating for evidence etc.

A lot of comments under manhua are about how “gorgeous” the characters are, so I don’t think it’s about storytelling. I think manhua tries to make an anime version of real adults-people, while manhwa/manga characters obviously try to portray humanoid traits it is still more “deformed”. Basically more manhua art style looks like this, but ones with a more “standard” anime style like There's No Way I'm Giving You My Mana Again! don’t have comments like that.

I think it just comes down to manhua going for the glamorous look, while manga is all about cuteness. Neither style are more realistic than the other, but most people are just used to manga more.

I've seen extremely realistic art in manhwa and manga, although admittedly they are less common.

I'd say all three have the rich and beautiful as common archetypes, and there are certainly great manhua that have nothing do with the upper class, I think it's more the perfect person archetypes that are less interesting to me. Like having no flaws is to me a boring character type.

Of course they are! And all American and English lesbians are either top-level professionals who need to learn how to relax or small business owners who need someone with a business degree to make their business actually profitable.

A lot of the manhua brought here have characters that are gorgeous or glamorous in the same way. And the fact that they're full color and more textured might make it more obvious than the more cartoon styles of manga. (Cf. Understanding Comics)

Then sometimes combine those characters with hilariously bad 3D assets of items or horses...
