It….. kinda bothers me that Sophia is the only one who seems to fully comprehend how totally not on the same level Machino is. While it’s not even remotely the same thing, it gives off….. mm… like, unbalanced power dynamics vibes? They’re leveraging all of this time and experience they have with “her” that Machino just only has glimpses of.
In a way it makes Olivia’s distress-… like, it’s 1million percent valid because those are absolutely her feelings but they’re astronomically on a way different page and a whole different lifetime than where Machino is, especially if you consider maturity and all that. I think they’re the same age ((except certain obvious parties?)) but it doesn’t really feel like it at all.
Don’t take that the wrong way. Any remote suggestion of power dynamics or age disparity and people start going bonkers. But as fun as this is and as much as I love the characters, they all feel like they have wonderful lives worth living back at home. People who love and rely on them. Things they still need to do that they left behind. Machino can’t keep all of them hostage there just because she can’t choose. ((Save scum like the rest of us, you nerd.))
