Yeah this chapter really cements that while Wakana is completely fine and even encourages Ruruna to get more kin she absolutely cannot stand the idea of Ruruna being romantically involved with anyone but her (hell she's treating her like she caught her cheating here even) so if this IS going to go 200% harem then that's an obstacle, personally I'm rooting for Wakana as the only one Ruruna could be considered to be dating because I love her and want her to get what she wants.
I will however admit I'm not really a harem fan (I only read this because it's super funny and harem isn't totally locked in) so this is probably a super fringe opinion.
100% this. ALL THIS.
Hate harems refuse to watch any of the slop anime with them and refuse to read any yuri manga that are full harems.
I'm also only sticking with this because I want Wakana to be the only true love interest and it's overall funny.
Case and Point lmao
Now that I think about it I’m pretty certain those of us that actually enjoy harems and poly are probably smaller in number, even on works that are tagged with harem / poly. People on here will read them while cheering for monogamy and reminding us how much they despise harems and think they are the worst thing ever. I’m like welp alrighty, haters gonna hate back to enjoying the harem lol
True. I personally just watch Yuri in general (I mean for the sake of my attention span I just don’t read anything else because the manga/anime space is already too large for me to grasp, and because I’m tired of hets lol), and although I don’t mind what type of ending it is, I think a “harem” ending would be very fair for each participant over all for their character arcs and development with the main lead. Because…if the main catch is that they’re all in love and they’re dealing with their relationship issues, and for the sake of ambiguity, they must not have too much difference on investment overall. Otherwise it would be really obvious about the ending, and lose a lot of suspense.
I mean, real life is not like that, and people don’t work out even spending so much time on a person, but this is the fictional world where things need to have meaning. And if a character gets to work hard, I would expect there to be payoffs, or this story is practically lying to me with selling this ship by telling me how they could really work out. (I’m sure you can even make it a multi-ending like a video galgame, but that’s probably too risky. Best to let the fans work themselves out.)
If the love interests have their own personal developments with each other then I wouldn’t mind a poly ending either. But if there are over 4 people in one boat, it would get super hard to balance because that’s 6 different relationships already. And the famous “Watanare” already has so many in it, so you know what I mean, and that’s probably the Yuri anime most likely to receive a season 2 in all of Yuri history.
Just … Having one main lead to grow up and mature has she gets to love and appreciate different people, changing them and herself in the process, gaining appreciation overall, and earning all their love is a really sweet tale, if you ask me.
So yeah, like you said, back to enjoying Yuri harem/polycule, haters gonna hate!
