Is Lemon's name Tenaki or Tenkai? I initially read Hane's name as Hanako, so I got things wrong as well. "thrashing" instead of "trashing".

Anyways, Hane might have made some sort of contract to keep the both of them alive and together. That is to say, they are bound together for the rest of their lives. Possibly.

When Hana was younger, she was saved by an already active magical girl Junna. After ensuring Hana's safety, Junna went to face off against the leader of Barren Hollow's Demon Maze and lost. Junna was corrupted by the evil organization and probably was put into stasis at this point.

That is until Hana's Precure-style story begins; Hana becomes a magical girl in her first year of high school (already older than the usual middle school magical girls). Junna, fully corrupted (and released from stasis) as one of the evil generals of Barren Hollow's Demon Maze, goes to high school in order to spy on the Floria Knights.

After a year of story happening, there was a final showdown between Barren Hollow's Demon Maze and the Floria Knights where it was finally revealed the status of the magical girl who saved Hana in the past. Junna is saved, but she no longer can be a magical girl and still retains some of her powers as an evil general. At this point, she is retired and now considers herself a regular citizen of the town they live in.

Anyways, I love the flowers representing the gore and bloodshed instead of actually showing what that would look like. Very good choice.

Looking back, the cut shown here is different from the one that we see after the "main adventure". Probably, since the attack barely did any damage, Junna healed from it rather quickly. In comparison, the scar in the present time looks very deep and was able to knock her down to the floor unconscious.

If we were to look at this as a Precure-like show, the beginning of the story was Hana trying to make a hundred friends (and being short) as she starts her magical girl career. Early on, Junna, as a rather important and active evil general, discovers at least Hana's alter ego and plotting elaborate scenarios to combat the magical girls. Hana and Junna's civilian identities grow closer over the course of a year, Hana hits her growth spurt and becomes a more competent person as her character arc. This leads to a final showdown where Junna is struck down by Hana, leaving Junna with that massive scar (some probable massive drama there). The present timeline is essentially the epilogue or OVAs after the main conflict has been resolved, the Floria Knights and Junna know of each other's identities, and everyone more-or-less keeps their powers.

Hmm, it seems like the story's wrapping up quickly. After spending so much time on Sofia and Olivia, we just get two chapters where the other candidates bow out. I would have liked to have gotten to know the others with their own arcs, but I guess there's the threat of getting cancelled with an unsatisfying ending.

Well, since anything after the film is considered as ancillary material, the manga can be easily discarded into dark history if it doesn't enhance the principal material. After all, no one talks about the Revolutionary Girl Utena manga or any of the official Love Live! mangas either.

These two in the game are very cute together. It seems, unlike what advertising would claim, this is actually story specifically tailored to Belle and Shunguang and no one else.
