I feel like I've seen this plot in a number of manga, but can't you just say "I can't hang out with you I'm buying your present"? Like, it's the gift that's a surprise, not that you're getting someone a gift.

I predict this manga will end with Riko overcoming those unwanted lolicon tendencies she's desperately trying to get rid of (one is not accountable for one's desires, only for one's actions upon said desires, and she IS doing it... right enough for government work) when she realizes that the true love of her life has been there all along and she recognizes for what it is, and returns the unspoken love of Praying Mantis-chan.
I mean, look at her face! She's basically saying "I LOVE YOU!"

People take this manga way too seriously and treat the situation like it's real life. This is a romantic comedy.

I see this take all the time when someone doesn't like whatever story it is. It's art, it's all up to criticism and nothing is too serious. If someone chooses to put out art into the world, that choice is up for criticism.

Like with all the other lolicon/concerning age gap manga, I think the author's intent on the romance relies on the reaction of the friends. Right now we just have the perspective of the pedo and child. I really want her friend to have a massive negative reaction for some drama, the closest I've read to this was in "My First Love's Kiss".
Although her friend is dumb as rocks so I don't have much hope for this.
On the other hand, a negative reaction may be coupled with a dumbass ultimatum like "wait until she's 18" instead of trying to get the MC to not like children.

I continue to be baffled by people who clearly hate loli manga reading a loli manga and then act like it's a psychological thriller.

Aika is gonna confess first and that'll be so good.

Though this is a work where the MC has been pretty consistent about treating her desires as a real problem, so I have no idea where the author is going to take this.
