next chapter we have a cupid namd Phil

ewww, AI

Do groan at how BAD my joke is (Phil the Groundhog with a cupid gun), not at the tool used to make the horrible joke. That joke wouldn't have become a good one even if I had used voodoo magic to resurect Miquelangelo to carve it in marble, you do realize.

cant dis your bad joke since Im too stupid to understand it in the first place

I think they're referencing the movie Groundhog Day, in which the main character — Phil — gets trapped in a time loop.

Does this mean that dynasty scans won't be updateing love bullet in the future? (regarding the licensing thing)

There was a bit of discussion here about it back when it was announced (you can check if you want), but the gist of it is that no, the group is not dropping the series.

LOVE RESIST stopwatch got a chuckle out of me

Chiyo's behavior makes me think she already knows about at least some of what's going on with Ena.

She did set up that trip here to begin with after all :P

EDIT: also, right before Ena's introduction and after the failed confession, Chiyo started saying something to the effect of "what happened wasn't just unlucky, it was inevitable", that strongly suggests she knows what's going on I think

Yeah, I am starting to think she brought Kanna and Koharu here to help Ena escape from the timeloop.

I pre-ordered volume 2! Was finally able to.

Hey! My copy of Volume 1 just arrived. I didn't even know it was shipping, but it's nice to have.

This is a story about relationships in general, not any singular yuri romance. That doesn't mean it isn't a yuri manga given the characters' backgrounds and the flags going around, but it has a lot more to say than it just being a story about how the characters get together or something.

The concept of yuri as a broader category beyond just romance is already a bit controversial, so I'm not surprised that Love Bullet's unusual approach to romance causes some confusion. This story is built on what we could call a yuri "platform", with the first volume especially being conspicuous about it. The second volume takes us back to the formation of this quartet of girl cupids, to a case where they play matchmaker for straight pairings, so the yuri is now carried forward by their relationships with each other.

Yuri fans are probably not used to seeing long form stories where a pair (or multiple pairs) of women gradually grow closer on a longer shared journey, especially in manga-originals. So maybe for some it's hard to have faith in Love Bullet running long enough to pay those sweet yuri dividends. Yuri light novel series like Otherside Picnic and Virgin Road have managed to take advantage of a style of relationship development that used to be common on TV shows from before the streaming era, like The X-Files or (for a lesbian example) Xena Warrior Princess. The major M/M ships in mainstream sports and action manga like JJK and Demon Slayer also grow out of this effect. There are long-running manga-originals with a similar vibe that can be great (e.g. Idol × Idol Story, Mieruko-chan, Stupid Woman 26:00) but the leading F/F pair in those usually does not overtly cross into romance so they're less legible as this type of relationship development.

Back to Love Bullet, I think there is something compelling about this gang of probably-queer girls dealing with straight romance too as a topic. So far, it's not the boy-girl pairs that are interesting on their own, but the overall effect of the cupids "managing" them. Of course I would be glad to see non-het pairings as the focus of their future cases.

Does anyone have link/copies of Ena's two birthday illustrations? (Seen in the credits of Chapter 14)

I was reading the official English release and saw that they translated one of Kanna’s lines in the first chapter as “They’re really down bad” which was such specific (and I assumed Anglospheric) slang that I wondered if it was simply localization on the part of Yen Press’ translator, so I went to see if the translators on here also translated Kanna’s line that way (kind of anticipating the answer to be a negative), but I was surprised when the line was also translated as “down bad" over here too. It kind of makes me curious about what she actually said that made both translations choose that particular wording, especially considering the rest of line is translated differently in both versions (here the whole line is “These two are really down bad”).

^ The expression in the JP script is 重症 /juushou/ (serious illness). The full speech bubble is 「このふたり重症だね…」(more literally "These two are severely ill..."). I think down bad gets the point across really well, since it's short and adds a similar nuance of being in a compromised state.

Multiple volumes for this arc? This isn't doing a "relationship of the week" thing i see. Interesting.

The inside cover with the traffic mirror shows the first boy/boy couple in the series so far in the upper right. Not really important, just a small detail I noticed when I got my copy since there hadn't been any thus far.

Love Bullet is back!!!

The hiatus is finally over!
For the book version of Volume 2, inee went back and added/edited the artwork in around 80 pages, and we've gone back and replaced all of those pages. So this is a great time to reread Vol 2 before diving into the first chapter of Volume 3 with Chapter 15!

yeah I figured Sae was a cupid considering the heart earings but like, what is her fucking game here? Is she just an asshole?? or was the bullying for some sort of machiavellan lovestory she ultimately failed to cook up???

I don’t think it was a love plot, simply because of just how isolated she had Hasumi. Maybe it’s some elaborate revenge plot for reasons we don’t yet know about? Or maybe cupids can become overwhelmed by jealousy and turn bad, and something about Hasumi drew Sae’s attention in particular? Heck, maybe she’s just gotten bored/gone a little mad, and started messing with people’s lives for her own amusement.

Either way, I’m excited that we might be seeing a proper villain for this series. I’m pretty sure she has some sort of mind control, considering just how easily that teacher went along with whatever she said, and she’s experienced enough that she was able to work on multiple couples at once.

Do...do cupids kill other people to make more cupids? Now I'm wondering if Koharu's accident was more than that.
