The hug was nice, but god fucking damn it, we can stop with the cheating conclusion? Your girlfriend obviously is crazy in love with you!

Aya...

It was okay the first time around, not particularly funny but it made somewhat sense, now, however, it makes me wonder how there can be such a thing as an insecure gyaru. Feels almost like an oxymoron.

I've been single (no relationship) for a long time so I'm not sure, but does that hug count as 'love-bombing'? Maybe that's where the wild jump in logic comes from?

I can’t say for sure, but love bombing is when someone constantly shows affection and attention to their partner for a period of time, say, a week, and then suddenly stops, leaving their partner confused. I doubt that’s the case here. It seems more like Mitsuki's personality and how she does things in her relationship with Aya.

Maybe in the world of yuri where a chaste kiss needs 200 chapters to happen. Aya is just weird in this case, I'm starting to dislike her. Her hairstyle doesn't help.

I don't think this though was meant to be taken as serious. It's just there to highlight Aya's overall anxiety and her worrying about everything. I think this will stop there, and there won't be other mention about cheating.

At least, this is what I hope. I'm already not a big fan of the overall narrative since the time jump. So if we go into the "I think my girlfriend is cheating for not reason" territory, I might take a break from the manga.

^ yeah, I wasn't really a fan of it when it occured the first time so this happening twice was quite jarring to me. When instead, they could have had a moment to calm down together and enjoy some cuddles while mitsuki helps aya with her homework and aya in turn comforts her by taking her mind off things for a moment before they talk about that (on or off screen).

What a bizarre conclusion ... but maybe it gets her to tag along for band practice and help figure something out.

Cheating… again??

That’s such a dumbass conclusion. wtf has she been watching to even get that thought? What makes her think Mitsuki would ever cheat?

The logical conclusion is that she’s stressed which is why she’s clingy, no? She’s absent minded cuz she’s lost in thought thinking about something.

I swear to god, if Aya doesn’t ask “hey, what’s wrong?” and just assumes she’s cheating ima be soooo mad

Hopefully and probably. But it is weird to use that same thing again in such a short time for it to just be a throwaway gag. Especially when we haven't had much time with them yet since the timeskip.

I think this "is she cheating" is more to do with Aya's own insecurities, and we also know that she does tend to overreact.

(Also going to ignore the elitist and gatekeeping tone of the comment you quoted regarding mainstream music.)

Since this is the second person to somehow misunderstand what I was saying, I think I'll clarify. I have nothing against mainstream music. The first albums I ever owned were from New Kids on the Block and Kriss Kross for god's sake. I am not making any statements about mainstream music at all. These are the key points I wanted to convey:

  1. Creating something genuine that happens to go viral or trend is not a negative thing. That's how a lot of great music spreads. Creating something according to a trend in order to go viral is harmful to music as a whole, because it commodifies what is supposed to be artistic expression.

  2. The vast majority of people, who have no idea how being a musician or the music industry itself works, believe that in order to make a living making music, you have to have a mainstream audience. This is untrue, and prejudices many people against exploring and finding new music from artists that aren't on the charts. If I had only listened to the radio or looked at what was trending in order to find new music, I wouldn't have found most of the incredibly talented artists I currently listen to, most of which do this as a job.

Ok last thing from my part too.

I didn’t say that to do music as a job you need to be mainstream (I didn’t use the word mainstream even) I said that social media is the tool nowadays to make yourself known. Social media, going viral and being trendy does not guarantee you a career or stability, but the opportunity exists and I think that many artists feel pressure and some are willing to trade music creativity for that opportunity.

I have different friends who do music, some are happy and some are stressed and want to quit because it is expensive, most of them have main jobs. The one friend I have that 100% lives from his music does Jazz but he is from the city, other friends are from the country-side and the panorama its very different. The others work as support in bands that aren’t music genres they like to pay other expensives, stuff like that. I am sure this also varies between countries.

Also, with going viral or stability, I don’t mean Budokan or sing a contract with Sony but being able to do a live and sell all the tickets (Most musicians I know see that as a stability goal)

A example of what I mean is that, a lot of fanartist don’t like doing fan art of trending anime, but the meme sticker sheet of Delicious in Dungeon gives them the income to do a little batch of fanmerch of series they love or to do some merch of their OC’s, and maybe with time they will stop doing fanart and start living only on their OC’s art.

I agree with your first point, and again sorry to have misunderstand you before.

Super sweet. Sometimes you just need a good glomp and sniff sniff after a long day. People are unsurprisingly taking the cheating surprise joke way too far; it's not a serious comment. I wonder how they'll discuss the band issue though once they get the chance to talk about it. We're setting up personal issues for both of them in their new immediate friend circles and I wonder if they'll converge at some point? I'm interested in how we navigate them. Using their home as a sort of comfort base, while they each figure out their individual problems would be a fun way to handle it. I wonder if that'll be the intention. Mitsuki's dilemma is clear; let's see what Aya's will be.

I think a lot of jokes in this manga don’t land with readers. Not the manga, artist or reader fault, some stuff get lost in translation, it has the humour of a 4koma but with “regular” artstyle, so the situations are taken more seriously than they should sometimes, and how much manga/anime the reader has see to understand how popular/common some of the jokes are.
The cheating joke is always used by the partner who loves to overthink everything when their partner who is more aloof is overly affectionate, is more on the line of “omg does she feel guilty over something?”.
But also, there are people who know all of that but simply hate that type of joke.

and the most weird thing about this phenomenon is that the original song has a completely different rhythm most of the time, so a lot of people only listen to the tiktok version/edit

Yeah, you're right and I'm aware. It's a pretty common joke in manga, so even if it's not super funny to me either, I'm not bothered or surprised by it--also, not expecting anything to come from it, other than comedy.

What's more interesting is these two developing arcs for Mitsuki and Aya; both of their new circles have some bumps to get over and it'll be interesting how they'll help each other over them. I feel like we'll see a lot more comfort glomping and freaking out. Out of everything introduced the Aya's new "friend" stands out the most; I want to understand what her hangups are.
