@Zesc

Not trying to argue for Caku here, but that first paragraph misses the point. Yes, this isn't sex ed - nobody claimed it is or should be. Doesn't change the fact some people might not enjoy such a trope for various reasons. Imagine the point instead was the narrative cliché of portraying savage populations in fantasy almost always with cultural references that are decidedly not caucasian or east asian. Or how suspiciously much asexual representation in fiction is in the form of non-human and/or unemotional characters. It's perfectly fine for people to simply not like or even criticize such an authorial decision.

No single work can be held responsible for greater societal problems, and you can't categorically condemn elements of fiction (daily reminder that Magneto is a jewish member of a secret cabal with advanced technology and an agenda of world domination and population control who controls rare metals) but shutting down all attempts to discuss the topic via highbrow dismissal is most surely not helping anybody. Doubly so since BDSM (especially in the unrelated horror genre) is associated with some really skewed ideas that cause real harm.

Besides, these two are morons. Ill intent is given on the MC's side at least, but so far all their BDSM was teasing, semi-serious pet play. Tonally, I doubt they'll be able to really harm another.

My take here is that there's plenty of reasons for feelings to run high with regards to both positions, given both bdsm and wlw relationships are stigmatized significantly. Being worried about a clueless third party treating the work as validation of their prejudices is understandable and feeling protective of or identifying with a work that involves those themes are both ways of responding to same situation.

Also yeah, there is real downplaying of risk or imitating harmful behavior from fiction by people within BDSM. There is outside it too, but often not in exactly the same ways.

While I enjoy some darker works, I agree this one isn't likely to be like that. The evidence is that they were low key obsessed with each other, that they still are, and that they will continue to value each other a lot. It's looking like one of those stories where the question is how much stupid stuff are they going to do before they can admit it to each other.

What I love about this author’s works (Zenkowa too) is that despite the kinky shit, the characters have a real relationship, something which similar works tend to lose sight of. But even then, it’s not just a kinky relationship; the kinky shit does genuinely weave into the relationship dynamic in a way that it can’t be separated.

"Boy"friend?
(I know he might be a boyfriend, "A Cute Guy" from Tatsubon have a great development on that line, but I'm taking my bets on that not being a bf but a gf and she had a little slip before telling out for the way of the addendum)

On a second, separate comment, I have the theory the initial rejection was on the basis of our protagnist expecting for a conventional, -monogamous- loving relationship and Amano (dog) already knew she was not interested towards it

That is certainly possible as well.

Very plausible theory if the author want to justify Amano. But I'd rather her just being an asshole back then, because If the author pair them together, it's kind of cruel, either to force Sakurako to see Amano playing around, or to force Amano to stay fixed on Sakurako.

I'm like 90% certain she just came out as having a girlfriend on accident, and then reversed course lol

Look at her face after the friends interrogate about the swapping and makeup thing, I'm like 100% certain.

We got some more not toxic "toxic" yuri. My money is on the whole series being like this, with cute interactions and the pet play being how they process what they're not yet ready to talk about.

Yuri work combined with the panicked reaction afterwards makes it clear it's not a boyfriend, especially from what else I've seen from this author.

The other gyarus are likely putting on a tough act to seem confident while dealing with their own secrets and insecurities (as everyone does). MC is clearly feeling fake to some extent, so I expect learning more about each other to be a bonding moment for them.

Lol, MC's friend definitely as a very interesting 'Boy'friend XD

Yuuna (MC friend that MC often gives advice) sure is eager to progress their relationship [Chapter 1 reference]...Yup Yuuna's boyfriend (Cough*GF*Cough) sure is the shy and innocent type~

I hope one day MC can progress and get closer to her two friends without hiding back any top class secrets and be open with each other (except maybe MC's having no experience part despite giving her friends dating advice cuz that be a bit embarrassing and she get teased for it lol~)

MC throwing frisbee and getting her 'possible' future GF to exercise lol XD

Yeah...MC and her 'former(Possible still lingering feelings?)' crush relationship is only going to 'work out' if Amano is going to just focus on MC instead of trying to hunt/flirt with other girls....that type of relationship is going to cause mental damage and stress in a relationship unless they are both are fine with a open-end type relationship...

Wonder when Amano will find out that she had already reject MC (She still doesn't know, check the other previous chapters.)

Probably nothing much but I noticed that despite being each other’s girlfriends, when feeling sick, she still chose to lie on her bag rather than Amano’s lap, like a very common sign of intimacy. Very interesting sign of distance and trying to get a peace of mind (she’s still trying to get revenge but still couldn’t figure out how Amano ticks).

I wonder what’s next on their plan…

They ARENT dating LOL. Amano isnt interested in having a GF, and MC said that she feels the same way.

The distance isn’t unusual as MC says she hates Amano (and she’s only messing with her to get ‘revenge’ on her)

They’re sex friends who haven’t had sex p much

I KNEW IT some people here love to wave red flags as if they are cnadys, the moment some type of friction in a relationship exist some people are thinking of super toxic relationship type of stuff when there was barely any sign of it in just 1-2 chapters

now it will contain BDSM and comedy and hopefully none of the doom posting some people jump the gun

tho the author CAN twist this into some dark twisted abusive BDMS stuff >.> i hope not

honestly this whole relationship seems like some kind of humiliation ritual for MC. she's the only one not getting what she wants out of this. she clearly wants an exclusive relationship with amano despite claiming otherwise but amano doesnt want that and that doesnt seem likely to change

The fact that the series has been told almost entirely from MC's view so far makes me think that there's more going on with Amano than meets the eye. So far basically every character is lying and putting up a front to deal with their insecurities, including Sakurako and both of her friends. Amano's playgirl persona is also likely at least partially fake and used as a coping mechanism. For example, she fiddled with her necklace (which she lied about not being important and likely about who gave it to her) when she said she didn't want a girlfriend. She might have some past relationship trauma that's causing her to reject committed relationships.

Either she'll eventually warm up to Sakurako enough to try for a committed relationship on her own, or her playgirl ways will eventually blow up in her face somehow, making it impossible to continue that lifestyle. For example, if the story decides to paint Amano's other friends with benefits as manipulative enablers that bring out her worst traits. And that would ditch Amano the minute she wasn't a convenient hookup for them anymore.

I don't know about this. I get the impression that Sakurako gets a thrill out of what's happening, even if she finds it frustrating. I guess I also think the story would lack a narrative arc if Sakurako's needs regarding Amano were to begin and end with a 'normal' relationship. I expect that eventually she will be forced to admit that she actually likes the BDSM stuff.

Probably not the necklace? She already knew that Amano had forgotten it at another girl's place, so it wouldn't make sense to assume she's there just because the necklace is.

I'm assuming Chiwa secretly put a tracking app into Yuhi's phone. The story seems to be making Yuhi's other sex friends into toxic people so that she'll eventually dump them all in favor of Sakurako.

Also, it seems like Yuhi's backstory is a classic case of grooming, where an older girl seduced her and then dumped her, causing her to seek casual sex instead of romance. The necklace is Yuhi's "collar" from that older girl. So, the plot is likely going to be Yuhi getting over her past heartbreak and forming a committed relationship with Sakurako.

As far as I remember, they're now high school 3rd years and had their fall out in 3 year of middle school (probably).

So, at least 3 years have passed since Yuhi rejected Sakurako.

Most probably, Yuhi, after that, already got her comeuppance by getting dumped by a senpai (the one who gave her the necklace) and on which she's still hung up and that she tries to get over (unsuccessfully, as can be seen how she's attached to that necklace) by playing around.

Fair point yeah, I wonder if it's as simple as her phone being traced/bugged, or if there's another item that's being tracked. I'll put the necklace being tracked as "unlikely", though I also wouldn't be surprised if it was.
