And honestly ? I think it's fine. It's clearly written as the boy being tradition, obligation, and to be honest, setup. A manga like this one doesn't care about those things primarily. It cares about the feelings of its protagonists. And Ritsu's feelings have been for Tsuzuri since the first chapter.

The only reason he stills exists is because it supports a bit of drama - "how do I break up, how do I tell the news, what will it do to my image". Elements that are part of the story, but not the main part, since romance and comedy are more important than drama.

Also... people give far too much importance to a relationship that never meant anything. They're treating this like a NTR story, which it really isn't.

Maybe I missed it but I don't think I've seen people treating it like NTR here? For me at least I don't care about the boy, I just want to rip the band-aid off and get that breakup over with it. Once that happens I figure he won't be used for drama, and we can relax into comfy relationship times with our adorable couple. So I only "care" as far as he's a potential drama card the author is holding onto, and it makes worried that drama might be around the corner. Regardless I know our couple will get through it and have a happy ending.

It's obviously not the main focus, but it's also fair to acknowledge that not breaking up with someone and trying to be with someone else is kind of shitty. Both her sister and Yarai have pointed out that she's cheating and it's not a good thing, so clearly the story does care about it. Just because it's a romance doesn't mean our leads are incapable of doing wrong and being called out for it.

Yeah, it's cheating, but it's not an NTR story. Those have a certain style, perspective, and intent to them.
