Why did the literal child get arrested for being almost statutory r*ped? Like, what about the guy? Was he also arrested? Is he not the one to blame here?

She didn't get arrested. Just brought to the police station. As far as the guy goes, since nothing formally happened it's likely the police wouldn't do anything to him. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for things like this to be brushed off or ignored :/

The I guess solution is to date girls her own age? I'd hope...

Interesting, Kuritani is either gay and reallying feeling the comhet or ace and really feeling the comphet huh.

Either way her experiences line up really well with not having found yourself yet during puberty and thus kind of just going along with what your hetero classmates tell you. In this case I do believe that if Kaede had been open about her own sexuality she'd have had a much better chance of getting through to Kuritani but to be fair, it's not like she lives in a society where she can do so without engaging in risk.

Luckily Kuritani has been assigned a friend of her own to figure things out with. On a slightly unrelated note, Nozaki is also the one who asked Kaede how often she liked to have sex on her first day as a teacher. So if nothing else Kuritani is in irritatingly outspoken hands. XD

Not just that, as a teacher she's probably in a position that greatly exacerbates the pressures and risks involved with such a coming out.

You're right, I forgot she was the one who asked that out-of-place question. With her showing up in this chapter's cliffhanger, I have a feeling she's going to start getting involved in things she really shouldn't... and just end up being plain annoying.

Hmm I think Kuritani will benefit from a well-meaning busybody like Nozaki. She'll be annoying at first, but overall probably a positive influence.

mhm that was indeed what I was getting at. Coming out to Nakanishi was a very calculated risk on Kaede's part, on that you can disagree with but that she also only made once she herself could believe the secret would be in good hands. It's not something she can just say to every troubled teen she's teaching. Even if it might seem obvious to us outsiders, Kaede is only working with imperfect information and knows she should be treading on the side of caution especially after already spilling the beans to one student.

I don’t get why the adult male wasn’t taken into custody… I’m assuming it’s cuz she never told him that she was in high school?

I think the student might be aroace or on that spectrum (or maybe just aromantic)? If she was attracted to women, she’d probably find out sooner, no?— and ngl, the whole “making herself fall in love” thing sounds like a little like JaidenAnimation’s experience (the part of picking a guy that she has a crush on specifically) and I can relate to seeing ppl around me dating, except I never felt pressure to have a crush or to meet someone (cuz I found out about aro/ace stuff when I was young)

Kaede’s advice was right, there’s no reason to rush. Did her words not work cuz the student isn’t worried about “falling behind” but instead worried about if something’s “wrong” with her?

Although she might just be gay and haven’t had her gay awakening yet? Idk how it works tbh

So either gay or ace. Guy didn't get arrested probably because nothing happened yet and the cops were able to take her to the station (and considering they met on a dating app, technically he hadn't done anything to charge him with yet), so thus all focus how on her :/

But yeah I got some intense ace energy from the whole thing, especially forcing yourself into something. Though it might turn into something gay with the busybody girl from the vibes of this manga?

We'll see lol

I mean, not necessarily? She's still only in high school. I hadn't realised while I was in high school either (though I can't say I felt left behind or anything of the sort, since no one in my circle were in relationships —straight or queer— anyway). And there are people who realise even a lot later in life.

I do agree that aro/ace seems quite likely, though. If not for the appearance of the classmate I would be certain that this was the route the author is going for.

i mean we don’t know everything that happened, but also it seems like they wouldn’t be able to arrest him since he technically hadn’t done anything at that point, but by taking the student into custody they could still prevent it from happening

So, is she gonna be aro ace or just comphet? Only time will tell.
I was assuming ace at first, but the chapter ending with her meeting a new girl seems to be setting up a relationship between them.

I think there are more than these 2 options here, and it could also just be too early for her. There's no limit to what kind of relationship she might end up in (or none at all), since this series will have a variety. It's good they prevented what would have been a terrible situation, though. Also, can't ignore the dash home for sweets from the worried GF.

Yeah there's people that have kids with someone of the opposite sex and afterwards they come out a lot later in life. Everyone has their own journey to go through in life and there's often a lot of winding and complicated paths on the road to self discovery.

Yeah she's still young and there's a variety of possibilities

So, this series is about very young people making horrible decisions about love and relationships. So basically me, in high school: THE SERIES.

For that matter, Kuritani could be a raging het, but not have found anyone male who turns her on, yet.

(Not saying that's likely in the story, given the author and rest of the story, but in reality would be quiet likely.)

that and the main character (i forgot her name my brain is fucked) reflecting on her own relationship as a result of seeing this stuff. it’s already happened twice (i’m pretty sure) and that’s probably what the title means

Doing that to someone who says she's a lesbian is very bad. But that's not what we have here. We have a teen girl trying to figure herself out. And I didn't say she just hasn't met the right guy, I only said it was a logical possibility, vs the comments saying "well she has to be gay or ace".

And this is a series where het exists (see chapter 1).

I wouldn't assume every character will be gay. This is a series the author said will have a variety of relationship types, so it's not unreasonable. It's about romance in general. The only absolute staple is our main lesbian couple (MC and her GF), who the author loves and started the series for.

Right now I'm leaning towards, "she's not interested in romance altogether," or "it's just too early and she shouldn't compare herself to other people."

At this point, it can go two ways: newfound friend (lover?) or bullying.

The last sentence makes me think it'll be the former.
