Really funny to me that this lady would get the secret symbol of the revolutionaries tattooed on her boob and then go around wearing shirts that show a lot of cleavage.

Booba is booba.

Elyssie is drawn like one would draw a love interest (intensely pretty and sparkly), so I was a bit surprised when she turned out to be an antagonist, but I guess the options are still on the table.

Also, Grima's behavior towards Lilly doesn't really add up, specifically when it slashed through her bungee rope. Either it was accidental, which is a hell of a coincidence, or Grima is a world-class 5D chessmaster who has seen through Rae's trap, correctly read that Rae would prioritize saving Lilly, and made the best possible decision, all in the span of two seconds.

Poor Lilly, fuck Rae and Claire.
Was sitting on the fence about buying this series as much I like the art style, the characters actions made it worth less in spending any money on the books in my wishlist sigh.

Poor Lilly, fuck Rae and Claire.

For what--not giving Lilly what she wants? Lilly isn't owed Rae's feelings. Rae's been clear about not being at all interested and only loving Claire. Besides that, they've been good friends to Lilly and very supportive of her. If anything, Rae and Claire have been too nice considering Rae's turned Lilly down several times, yet she ignores the feelings of her friends. That's on her and not fair on her part. Her thoughts here show she understands the rejections, so that final line is very contradictory--she's got her closure, she just chooses to ignore it opportunistically.

Lily… if you want to be treated like an adult, you’re gonna have to ASK her to tell you bluntly. If you already understand that she’s rejecting you, but the issue is that her being gentle is making you hold out for any sliver of a chance, just tell her to be direct (or take her advice and move on) cuz I fr don’t get how you could think you still have a chance when she’s telling you she loves someone else point blank

The griffin is a good kid who remembers who helped it before. ^_^

...I don't remember any of this from the light novel. Is this a filler chapter?

Not filler but this whole "fake date" thing is a manga only creation, so it depends on how you view it since the mangaka in charge of the manga adaptation isn't the same as the original LN author.

Well it's pretty common for manga adoption to take some liberation and deviate a bit from the original creation.

True but people will judge things differently depending on whether the OG author is handling the adaptation or someone else. Since that person asked about filler, I wanted them to know the context. They might not have known that the author is different, and they might not have known that these events aren't in the OG novels.

The additions haven't really deviated at all, anyway. Just added a little context, and gave some characters a bit more screentime (Lilly and Thane, specifically) but everything else is mostly the same, which is good.

i don't really think the "author" is different at all anyhow? like sure, Inori isn't the one drawing the manga but they're still the one writing the story. So presumably Inori either tells Aono Shimo what to draw or they sign off on it at the very least. Either way, Inori not having any input on the adaptation seems highly unlikely to me

Based on how Inori talks about the manga, I do not believe she is involved with it. Aonashimo seems to handle the manga on her own and is definitely making the plot and writing choices.

In her weekly reports, Inori discusses new chapters and events with surprise and praise for Aonashimo's literary decisions. She talks about the manga as if it's all Aonoshimo's work. This new stuff with Lilly and Thane, for example, Inori discussed Shimo's skillful ability to set the stage with these new character explorations.

Inori has been working on her novels (one is releasing soon!) but that is the only thing she ever discusses when it comes to her current work and that stuff seems to take all her energy and focus. For the manga, she seems to just promote it a lot and praise Aonoshimo's writing. To clarify, I'll ask her and get back to you whenever I get a response.

I promised to get back to you: Inori says she supervises the manga, while Aonoshimo is the one writing and drawing it.

Thanks! Supervising it is basically signing off on the story being portrayed in this way, so that's good enough for me as far as "canon" goes.
