This whole chapter was a series of "Oh no" moments. Including the MC going I don't want to fix her, I want to make her worse, with deciding to become more like the series.
Putting the incest and Kasane's horniness aside, I hope I'm not the only one that does think the father's actions are off putting.
"You are forbidden from seeing your sister and now I will marry you off to my older dude friend" just gives me all the wrong vibes.
Honestly, I agree with Meguru that it makes me want to throw up. Not sure why but I find it especially gross in this story - maybe because I'm afraid they'll just have Hiromi married off and never bring it up again. I'm not saying Hiromi should get with her sister but she deserves better than "live according to your father's wishes and maybe he'll allow you to do things :^)"
Oh yeah the father is disgusting. She's an adult and she's only allowed to see her sister if the father "allows" it? Fuck that. Also marrying his daughter off to a man that looks like him? Fucking weird. She needs to find personal agency and rebel against him.
The older dude friend he married her off too probably is a shithead too.
He's "hard headed but can be reliable and kind." Where have I heard this line before? thonk It's never "he respects me and treats me like an equal," no, it's always the woman describing her partner the way you should be describing your dad, not your husband.

Yeah that as well, it's genuinely uncomfortable.
And the more I think about it, her dad probably married her to one of his friends to make sure she stays controlled her entire life like the way he's controlling her.
jfc im malding
As crappy as the situation is for the older sister , this is actually quite true to IRL Japan, sadly .
I'm hoping this will be a counterpoint to My Sister's Best Friend, My Lover. There, the older sister was happily married off to some guy we never saw, and the younger sister's feelings for her never really got addressed or resolved. The whole thing felt very weirdly heteronormative and underdeveloped in a way I didn't really like.
Given how genuinely miserable Hiromi looked here, I hope they can save her from the marriage and their dad's control somehow. Even if Meguru and Kasane is obviously endgame, and Hiromi isn't likely to be part of that, I still hope some better outcome for her can happen. Maybe setting her up with Kasane's ex?

youre saying the father is an asshat but honestly his reaction is valid considering his two daughters were kissing on a regular basis with one of them being a child and the other being ?? whatever age she is

force marrying her off to a guy that looks like him and getting her out of the country is not a valid reaction

The classic "there's no therapy in Japan, at least in mangas"

Yeah the father is a controlling creep no matter how a person slices it

I would think the valid reaction would be giving enough of a damn to talk to both of them to try to mend their relationship into something healthier, and separating them as a last resort rather than jumping to "you can never see each other again" and then marrying one of your daughters off to some older friend of yours while abandoning the other to live by herself with 0 support in her life.
If I could strangle a man to death it would be this one.

wtf is wrong with this family. Kasane should just marry both sisters + her ex and take them away.
Considering their situation, splitting them up was valid, reasonable even--forcibly marrying the older daughter off, obviously not. Crazy what giving these two the chance to talk out and process their feelings, especially to a professional, might've accomplished. Meguru, her obviously unsibling-like feelings and attachment for her older sister, and Hromi, her dangerous passivity in both letting her barely pubescent little sister have her way with her as well as just uncritically accepting whatever order her dad gives.
They could've lived seperately but still at least been allowed to see each other, just not letting them alone in the same (bed)room. Over time it might've given them both a chance to move on from each other, without the need for a traumatic band-aid rip-off. Buuut had that been the case, we likely wouldn't've been here and it would've been a shame not to get to enjoy this trainwreck triangle in Hijiki's brilliant artstyle.

Finally an intellectual has spoken.
While we are at this, why not include the café shop waitress too?

Adding the Exes tag without the incest tag is wild

I wouldn't want my pedo adult daughter near my minor daughter either so separating them was the correct decision. Forcibly marrying the older daughter ain't good tho.
Actually, scratch that. This wouldn't be happening if Onee-san didn't prey on Meguru when she was 12, she's only going along with marriage to absolve herself from it. I don't feel bad for her at all.
This is not her being forcibly closeted for being gay, this is her running away from the situation she created for herself. She's just trying to show her dad that she won't mess with Meguru anymore

If I Could Reach You was great but what it clearly needed was an older self-absorbed himejoshi woman for Uta to run away from her pain with (it Did Not Need This but I am eating it up anyway).
I got into it for the pervert comedy but I'm staying for Meguru and Hiromi hopefully facing their pain. You can't keep drawing the most selfish possible conclusions, Kasane! Actually emotionally supporting those two is gonna be so much better than your dumb yuri fantasies!
Had the incest tag always been there? Honestly I’m not too surprised by this development

Only for that one chapter
Jesus fucking christ why is everyone so messed up oh my god, this isn't Punpun or Higurashi

I don't think he's literally supposed to look like him. I think it's that Meguru sees them as "the same".

Damn, finally someone that is talking about the sister's behavior... While the father went too far, Meguru was the one at fault and I don't feel bad for her as well... I almost feel like Meguru did follow what her father was telling her to do just so she wouldn't have to reflect on what she did.
Honestly, the only one I have sympathy for is the little sister (and the ex, she's nice), all the other characters are just fucked up and shouldn't be near the little sister.

Even if it's not literal him giving the same general vibe as the father is still really weird, especially when the father in so many words said to his daughter you have to marry a man similar to me. It's especially uncomfortable with the husband being his friend and therefor an extension of the father and his control.
