Which even if people think Whispering You a Love Song is a completely worthless series because it doesn't focus on identity, as long as fans of the series are also pushing for real life acceptance that's ultimately the most important thing. I do think this series and others like it have value.

My initial complaints weren't just about Whispering You a Love Song not focusing on sexual orientation. I've read plenty of yuri where that isn't explored, and I'm typically fine with that.
My issue is that this manga is going out of it's way to create a scenario where not focusing on a character's sexual orientation feels like a glaring ommision.
Takeshima could have made Miki's ex a girl and it would've been just like any other fluffy yuri manga where all the girls are assumed to be lesbian. That's fine.
But she went out of her way to make Miki's ex a guy.
And have her participate in conversations where they try to define "romantic love".
And have her female senpai confess to her.
Which should naturally lead someone to at some point mentioning the role gender plays in love and attraction for her, right? Or have her get a bit introspective about orientation when thinking over her senpai confessing, right?
Well she does get introspective...over her incestuous feelings for her sister. Sigh...

Oh and I don't hate this series by any stretch. Aki and Shiho are one of my favorite couples and the art is amazing.

I think what you're saying sounds generally fair, and I should say I don't think this series is free of critique. There are elements that definitely could be more thought through and written better. I'll also say the series would probably be better with lesbian acknowledgement and identity exploration, especially with the past boyfriend being an element as you're saying. I do understand the frustrations people are having with the series, even with that in mind I'm still generally enjoying the story and relationships, and even as it is I think the series does have value.

But she went out of her way to make Miki's ex a guy.

Setting aside everything else, I do find this way of phrasing it a bit hilarious and I love it. Because you're right! In the vast majority of media, a girl having an ex who's a guy would be the default. But in this manga, where basically every single character is a girl who's in love with another girl, it's so jarringly out of place and unexpected that it's almost more shocking than the incest! Which is very funny to me for some reason.

Now that's normalization!

This kind of discussion make me happy i have a simple mind and don't analyze too deeply what happen. Like i personally don't see why Miki's ex being a boy change anything but hey.

Ch. 48.6 was incredible, I need more AkiShiho. I need to see Shiho being a complete disaster, Aki leading, and more emotional moments between the two. The part where she talks to Kaori so that KaoMari leaves made me smile and laugh.

Ch. 51 was confusing at first because Miki kept talking about "love" and how she "loves" Ayaka even if it may not be in a romantic way, but after that she talks about how she can't date the one she loves. Is the "love" for Aki similar to the one for Ayaka? It's a rhetoric question by the way, this chapter does make me think that there is some incestous feeling.

Regardless, I'm not really intrigued on this plot, I think focusing on Ayaka would pull me in more because she is cute and a disaster. To me it feels like AyaMiki will be the end of this part anyway, so all the melodrama feels pointless, basically a filler.

HajiMomo would be far more interesting IMO since there is a lot of potential (angst) from Momoka dating the sister of her dead lover.

Also a bit disappointed that Shiho didn't show up still.

Wow...are you in my brain? This is all exactly how I feel right now except you kept it brief instead of ranting and raving for a couple of paragraphs like I tend to do. :P

I'll probably just start speedreading upcoming chapters for this arc because all this AyaMiki drama feels so pointless and uninteresting. Unless they pivot into HajiMomo, which would definitely grab my attention again.

God this chapter felt so slow to read through. At this point I just want AyaMiki arc to be over with because they're just super boring to me. The only thing I'm looking forward to in this arc is more HajiMomo because it's a relationship that they have already hinted for a long time instead of randomly popping up like AyaMiki / AkiMiki.

(Yes I know technically they "hinted" at AyaMiki and AkiMiki before, but Miki was such a minor character that it never felt important to the plot compared to HajiMomo)

Well I hope she over comes her feelings for her sister and moves on to being in a good relationship with the girl that confessed to her. I know most people hate this arc, but if at least it goes in the right way the resolution should hopefully be good. Unless it all goes off a cliff and she hangs onto to her feelings for her sister forever, then I'll have no idea what to say lmao

She has an answer now. Whether it'll work out remains to be seen.

Used to be that people would say "I'm tired of this AkiShiho, let's get back to just YoriHima." I'm also not as fond of the sudden incest inclusion but I wonder how things will be viewed down the line. It seems like it's transitioning into something with more substance, at least. All depends on how this "double date" goes.

I commented last month on how I had just finished The Summer You Were There, but what I didn't mention was chapter 51 of this came out right after and jumping from KimiTsuzu back to this arc, I got this creeping feeling of dread that I was wasting my time reading this. AkiMiki is a non-starter because even if you like incest, you should know it's never going to happen. Takeshima isn't going to drive a wedge in between AkiShiho just one volume after saying she wants to draw many more adventures with them.

I reread the YoriHima chapters every so often and there are still so many golden moments they have, so this manga isn't completely dead to me, but I recently binged A Kiss and a White Lily and now I wonder if SasaKoi is also going the "couple buffet" route... AyaMiki could take as many as 15 chapters to resolve; HajiMomo may overlap with this and then continue on after AyaMiki are resolved. By then we could be as far as 2028 IRL.

I'm mostly hoping the next chapter will clear up a lot, and we'll wrap up this arc within 5ish chapters. If we're back to some of the favorite couples by then I'll be pretty forgiving at least.

the incest plot was kinda fun at the beginning as a novelty but righ now it feels like the pace slowed to a crawl, if these past chapter are just a transition to the hajime x momoka plot that´d be great. Honestly im just glad that i don´t have to see shiho so not really as dissapointed as others

kinda weird that momoka and hajime have been together for some time yet momoka thinks hajime hangs with her out of obligation/consideration????

Are they actually a couple or do they just hang together a lot, bound by shared dead loved one?

My guess is they've been in love with each other for a while, but both are too shy/awkward to make it official because of the Kyou situation.

This is pulling up memories of the artist that didn't realize they made Genshin ship art of two women being gay on another character's coffin. I'm imagining Momoka and Hajime in a similar situation lmao

I, too, like it when we get to see Aki and Shiho. Wish we'd get more of them.

Romantic feelings for siblings in yuri feels so contrived at this point for how frequently it crawls out of the sewer. Half the time nothing comes of it so it's not a win for people who are having to sit through the pointless incest and it's not a win for people who actually want to see the incest. Who is it for at that point? It's like a worse version of "will they won't they?" Can we just be done with this sibling incest trope in anime/manga please?
