Aw c'mon, what a cliffhanger. Right before the comedic interruption romantic fade to black.

Seems implied that she has become quiet aware that "His Majesty" is a girl. Unless there's some other reason for trimming her nails after looking at lesbian porn?

tbh I think she knows what "he" has down there. but maybe she thinks he's trans or something like that?

I love a fired-up Yu Dingdang.

It definitely seems like I called it and Yu Dingdang knows what her "husband" is packing. She's devious and I'm a fan.

I honestly can't tell if she knows if he's a woman or not. Her naive act is so good I can't tell where it starts and where it ends. But I'm glad that her "emperor" really knows how to please his empress ;)

Good job, emperor! Although looks like she's still somehow managing to keep her secret...

I'm... not sure about that. It's a bit confusing. When she asked the general for ecchi doujin books and got only yuri ones, she thought: "Could it be that the general too has found the secret of the emperor?" And I was like: "Omg she knows!!! Dingdang knows her husband is a woman!"

But now they've had sex and Dingdang's reactions are so ambiguous that I don't know what to think anymore.

We're not shown enough to know for sure, but what we do see is only the emperor doing her empress, not the other way around. And considering the very title of the series, I'm pretty sure the emperor is still managing to keep her wife in the dark, as ridiculous as it may seem. :D

Oh, welp, now the premise of the story doesn't really make sense anymore.

Though, I do wonder why the emperor isn't just left ambiguously transmasc, considering they're seemingly just fine with being a guy, and don't really seem interested in being a girl.

Well dang, that is probably the most erotic thing I've ever seen published in a Chinese comic lol. I wonder if this chapter was originally only on twitter instead of Bilibili, I've seen other Chinese comics do that like Here U Are and I think Bai Lijin Among Mortals (not totally sure where that series had its "extras" published) but nothing quite that.... sensual. Certainly nothing with that much unambiguous discussion of what they're doing mid-scene lol.

She continues to address the emperor as "he" even in her thoughts. She definitely remains unaware. Presumably, she assumes there are concealed issues "down there" that she can compensate for with her hands. She's "right," in a really roundabout way, which makes the emperor's reactions funny.

I don't know if we would trust gendered pronouns as authoritative in translations: they come up in English way more often than Japanese, so I wouldn't be surprised if the same applies in Chinese. I remember with Mihoyo games there's been multiple translation errors over the years where they inserted gendered pronouns where none were specified before, and ended up guessing incorrectly.

Super fair. I think there's more reasons to suspect she doesn't know beyond the pronouns but yeah. On another note, I feel for the emperor and her being forced to present herself in a way she doesn't desire. Her mother is terrible and the situation has similarities to "I'm in Love with the Villainess," although this mother might be worse.

My very low-level understanding of Mandarin Chinese is that "she", "he", and "it" are all pronounces the same - "ta" with the same high pitch, but they are written with different characters as Chinese is not phonetic like English is, so when speaking the gender is ambiguous - but not when written.

e.g. (English/Simplified Chinese/pinyin pronunciation)

he eats rice
他吃米饭
tā chī mǐfàn

she eats rice
她吃米饭
tā chī mǐfàn

it eats rice
它吃米饭
tā chī mǐfàn

I can see that making translation difficult for gender-bending and cross-dressing stories like this one.

Ok i got it, is this story pretending to be one of thous chinese stories that has “yuri” tag but also the cross-dressing tag so we get what i feel is an STRAIGHT romance story were even in the chapter 15 we got the other supposed “lesbian/bisexual” MC having SEX with HER HUSBAND, how is this YURI?!?!?!?!

I’m sorry but i don’t see anything yuri in this story, is it gonna change? will we EVER address the idea of the EMPEROR being a women? or the idea of two women in an relationship? we will EVER see the concept that no, relationship between straight people is different from gay ones? or will the MC suddenly be OK with her supposed HUSBAND being a WIFE?!?!?!?

there was one other Chinese novel that i coudn’t finish reading were the General was hiding her gender and for some stupid reason, we don’t get the other MC to know that the General was a women while the Princes was so gay she made sure the General was USED AS A PAWN WITH NO MERCY cuz he was a MEN! (abd the general fell for the princes so she did whatever the princess ask of her) that farce of an supposed “Yuri romance” HAPPEN AT THE END! 1/5 of the story with 0 romance with only the GENERAL being in love with the princes! the ROMANCE didn’t exist at all cuz the author forgot to build ANY relationship with them because the princes didn’t found out the general was a women early.

this story will need some solid exploration of the relationship they have AFTER the MC finds the emperor true gender! but i do wander if an Chinese story can pull it off were even the Japanese mangas shy away from the concept of “Sexual Orientation”

I feel like I could say something about sex and gender being two different things, but . . . . it doesn't feel worth the effort if you're freaking out over this.
