Feel free to call me old fashioned , but if my girlfriend started bringing home sex dolls and dakimakuras and was spending a bunch of time with them each day I might put my foot down a little about it (^^) Having hobbies is fine but I'm a grown ass adult in a grown ass relationship with another adult, I won't waste my life competing with any imaginary waifus for my girlfriend's affection.

but calling someone a cheater for their hobby is pretty fucking stupid, and also obviously toxic.

What if your hobby is having sex with other people? Okay, great, we've established hobbies can be cheating. So how about fantasising about having sex with other people? It's not literally cheating, but it's cheating-adjacent, I'd say. Or perhaps just "emotionally cheating". Even if it's a fictional character, it feels pretty messed up to be devoting that kind of emotional energy to the point of buying sex dolls while in a relationship. Obviously if your partner is okay with it go for it, but calling the mere idea of someone being uncomfortable with it "fucking stupid" is the real toxic take here.

Never forget the golden rule: more than one waifu will ruin your laifu.

Sure context matters.

If your hobby is having sex with other people, then you should be in an open relationship or a poly one. There is a context in which this is not cheating.

I see nothing wrong with fantasizing about having sex with other people, as long as it doesn't negatively affect your relationship. Emotional cheating is not thinking about sex with other people, that's an entirely different thing.

Forget about the sex dolls thing, the first page of the chapter is senpai calling a 2D character cute and kohai calling it cheating. And on page 11 the woman says, "The moment you think about a girl other than me, you're a cheater." So what, once you're in a relationship you can no longer have friends of the gender you're attracted to? The sex doll is too much, but that's not the example of the toxic mindset I'm talking about.

She threw a knife because of a completely fictional, entirely non-existent character whom he can't actually cheat with even if he wanted to...
Rather than worry about him cheating, I think she's got some entirely different issues that she needs to work out.

If your hobby is having sex with other people, then you should be in an open relationship or a poly one. There is a context in which this is not cheating.

Right, that's the thing. There is no universal standard for cheating. Cheating is whatever breaks the boundaries set in a relationship. And if you have incompatible boundaries, well, there's going to be some tension... at any rate, my point was that it's silly to call having certain boundaries you don't agree with 'fucking stupid'.

Forget about the sex dolls thing, the first page of the chapter is senpai calling a 2D character cute and kohai calling it cheating.

I agree that if it were only this, those would be some impressively narrow boundaries. However, I think it's pretty clearly meant to be taken in context of a greater whole. This is obviously not the first or only occurence, and judging by her actions in other scenes (buying lewd dakimakura in Ch1, excited over the guy's doll later in the chapter), there's a bigger reason her girlfriend is exasperated with her that goes beyond "she called a 2D character cute".

ACAB

I heard they'll even side with molesters if they decide the victim didn't resist "enough", or at least judges will

So yeah, all cops are bastards (and judges too apparently)

And cops here in Brazil are also famous for being VERY violent

It's funny, because I've read one of those articles before and know it's full of BS, so I'm inclined to think none of this link dump is anything worth the time to read. Somehow I don't think this is the best strategy to convince anyone of anything.

Wonderful, we already had political propagandists with an agenda against China and the Chinese government—who tour all the manhua threads to hate on the country, the publishers and the authors.

Now we have people info-dumping crapola against Japan.

There're links to academic research papers and numerous verified accounts of the systematic abuses perpetrated by the Japanese justice system to force false confessions, as well as abuses and discrimination against foreigners and those perceived as foreign. If you consider that "crapola" you've got terminal weeb brain, sorry.

With people lamenting pointing out ACAB is not just for the US, and someone parroting the myth of "too many police" I think it's fair to counter with facts of how the police there actually act. You don't get the highest conviction rate in the world, above what we would call police states, based almost exclusively on confessions, without being shady as fuck in how they're gotten.

Just cause they don't shoot people in the street doesn't mean they're not cops and are incentivised by the system to get convictions regardless of guilt, so put people under extreme duress with next to no accountability.

The story of Chisako Tezuka provides a recent example of abuse of a suspect while under police detention. Ms. Tezuka was arrested on suspicion of fraudulently obtaining a loan. She was taken to a police station for detention. At the station, she was stripped naked, subjected twice to a genital search, and forced to urinate while male police officers watched. Ms. Tezuka was detained and questioned for 20 days. During her questioning, she was handcuffed and roped around the waist. Tezuka was never indicted because the police found that she had paid back the loan two months prior to her arrest. Ms. Tezuka claimed that the secrecy of the detention system enabled police to treat her with "dehumanizing brutality."

like enjoying funny manga police waifu's is fine like whatever, but the realities of policing is that ACAB around the world, and pretending Japan is exempt because it's hidden away is naïve at best and enables further abuses at worst.

Yeah but that's not the point here.Just because it's about police that the thread had to go politicals about whether or not you like cops, it's not what the manga is about. It's about 2 constables being useless gay.

The ACAB thing is a bit much when discussing a light comedy series, so if y'all could take that to your respective substacks or whatever you use to discuss systemic sociopolitical issues, I'd appreciate it.

So nice to see you come by, Nezchan! Especially because it doesn't happen so often these days, sniff.

Thank you for putting a lid on this awful mess of an ACAB debate. The issue sure has impact and significance... but not in this thread.

Jeez, this chapter rubbed me the wrong way multiple times...no pun intended. I understand that it's a comedy ( a lousy one at that, in my opinion ) but I'm not sure if it works well with the incredibly serious topics that the plot ends up focusing on. Sure, with a bit of tact you can still make comedy out of sensitive situations, dark comedy exists for a reason, but I don't think that's the intention of the author.
