I don't get why people are talking about Sumire suddenly aging. Manga artist do that
cute childification thing all of the time. I think it's called chibi style or something.
It's different when it's your initial impression of the character. The general rule (and the wisest approach) is to portray the character accurately in their first appearance, and only afterwards start using deformed versions of them for appropriate situations.
That said, it's not like it's a big deal here, it just feels strange.
