These are ALL maids- maid is a job. They can leave or stop it any time they want. They also seem to love both what they do and WHO they do it for.

They are not SERVANTS in the victorian sense- even though those were also not slaves either, they did always seem a step towards it to me. But these cute maids in jobs they love?? Sorry but NO. Its nothing like it. In fact its less like slavery than most of OUR regular jobs.

Well yes but in that particular context she's the only one who appears to be engaged in "basic" maidservant employment while I was specifically discussing the two that aren't.

The text does not contain anything to indicate she wasn't a legally free person, tho, which is already a whole lot less uncomfortable setting than certain works by Itou.
