Anna and Miku's age is right in the title of the manga!

But yeah, Japan does 1-6, 7-9, and 10-12; unlike the US it seems a universal pattern. So Anna's in 9th grade, far enough in to be 15 and not 14.

"So, yeah, Ema is the most morally grounded character in the story. (Wanders off cackling at the very thought.)"

Ergh. She keeps perving on her 15 year old ward who has nowhere else to go. (Well, I guess she could call her parents... not sure it was clear why she's with Ema, apart from "their convenience" and Anna being happy to get away from their strictness.)

Miku is making a running leap for the Moral Event Horizon but at least she's a teenaged peer who doesn't live with her target. Maybe she has messed up ideas about romance and consent.

“Most morally grounded character in the story” was not meant to imply “actually morally grounded.”

But as random says, Ema does at least try to keep her behavior somewhat in check, and she doesn’t come up with some philosophical bullshit to justify her urges.

It’s like the title: the phrases “Age 15” and “Confusing and Compelling Physical Impulses” are practically synonymous.

Well, Miku sucks tremendously. Maybe even worse than Yoshino, though I guess with the added excuse of being an inconsiderate kid.

Can all these boundaryless ladies just back the fuck off Anna for like a minute and let her figure her shit out? And, y’know, not lay hands.

Given how old this is, is it maybe going to be completed in the near future?

In all fairness to Ema she mostly just needs a hug and usually only gets inappropriately touchy with/has problems suppressing her crush on Anna when reeling from particularly emotionally bruising encounters with Yoshino.

It's not exactly upstanding conduct, given their positions and ages, but at least "seeking comfort when hurt" is a pretty understandable motive.

Debatable. Miku went from zero to manipulative creep in record time and some of the shit she's pulled with Anna probably meets the criteria of sexual assault, but Yoshino is actively and wantonly cruel to Ema and can't even claim the weak excuse of being a messed-up kid.

I'd say that deliberate malice puts Yoshino firmly on top of the list of dodgy people in this story.

Can't wait for Ema to be a strong ass "adult" now and push her boss AWAY!!! And show Ana a good example. It's strange and kind of sweet, Ema and Ana are both growing together? Even though Ema is a little older. Let's see where this goes! Ps I prefer Ema/Ana.

Who'd think Asagi's actual hentais (the ones I read anyway) would be more wholesome than their almost-hentai.

I’m mixed up about Miku. She’s reeling from a bad rejection. She’s on the rebound so I get why she’s clinging to the one person who is there for her. Though I can’t say she’s completely despicable because she at least is acting like this with the belief in mind that Ana likes what’s happening between them, it’s just that Ana has reservations because of society. Which, to Miku’s point, seems to be the case. In her mind, she’s helping Ana figure her self out I guess.
Ana‘s confused about everything that’s going on which is understandable since she’s being exposed to all kinds of things all at once. Girl needs space to breathe and think about what (who) she wants.
Ema to her credit, doesn’t force Ana. She stops when Ana feels uncomfortable, even has the decency to notice and acknowledge it. She tries to be considerate of Ana’s feelings which is a step up from Miku who is just assuming she knows what’s good for Ana. I feel for Ema too cuz she’s being led on by Yoshino who is getting off by keeping her on her hook. She needs to get away from Yoshino so she can figure out why she started perving on her 2nd cousin. Was it just loneliness or an underlying attraction that she dismissed because the girl is younger than her?
Yoshino seems like she’s looking for a playmate that can match her sexual (perhaps also emotional if we get to find out more about her character) level.

Maybe Asagi Ryuu is just more suited to one-shots or short stories, but I don't usually feel like the plot or romance is just an excuse to have sexual situations. They can and have written compelling interpersonal relationships that flow naturally into sexuality. But similar to Otome no Teikoku, at least for me, this is definitely not doing a good job of disguising that everything that's happening is just for the sake of the ecchi and is largely nonsensical outside of that goal. I expected a bit more, I admit.

@cryssoberyl really? I only read Heavenly Garden and I want to be honest but they both have similar premises like Age 15 as in it starts with rape which blooms into love. Asagi Ryuu has always had a nukiege writing style to me.

I dunno what it is about this series, but all the characters feel not-quite-right to me. Like, their emotional intelligence and their actual behavior don't match?

Asagi Ryuu x Excessive Fluids

You get a (virtual) cookie.

Well, the discussion really took off with these last chapters (or I'm just slow), and I have to say I'm dropping it. Miku is still a minor, and was already in a (technically illegal) relationship with an adult man, even if she was a willing participant. We don't know how that started or even if he was the first so the level of squick could still be debated.. Considering that, I give her a bit of a pass with Anna, as they're both clearly in the presence of very bad role models.

I could possibly see a saving Ema x Anna relationship, if Ema grows and learns from these situations and starts to be at least a somewhat proper adult, but.. there's just so much toxic all around that even if that's the case I don't think I could make it to that point.

Yoshino...clearly has some very dubious morals, and straight-up assaulted Anna. I hate her as a character and she could almost ruin this for me even if she was the only problem.

I wish you all well if you continue. I like age-gap too but this one just does not sit right with me. It's a shame, because his art is good despite the excessive fluids. :(

The point is that it’s like being “the most benign person in Happy Sugar Life.

By default, somebody’s gotta be, but that doesn’t mean much in absolute terms.

Ema really should stop drinking, her restraint and moral compass regarding Anna take a vacation whenever she has some booze in her.

And, yes, she's still by far the least creepy of the Main Cast Who Aren't Anna. Which really just speaks volumes of the others.

This is like one of those revenge-porny web novels that make every human besides the main character cartoonishly despicable so you’ll hate them except I get the feeling Asagi Ryuu wants me to feel Literally Any amount of sympathy for them.

My God. What a mess of a story. EMA and Ana make no sense on their behaviour. Asagi Ryuu may made a name for themselves but he/she certainly is no Mira when It comes to "porn with plot"
