This is exactly what happened. Hino can't handle Koguma's cuteness, but she can't handle the idea of being disliked by her even more. Hino-san is an awkward person as well.

I suppose it's about really extreeme exhaustion. I heard a phrase like "to draw/squeeze out all juices"(I don't know English equivalent of this phrase). Meaning is simple - to get everething from something/to exhaust to the limit. People who starve for long period of time can get those sunken cheeks, or with extreme dehydration. Mumies will do to.
