It's Komichi up until page 15. She enters class, reads the letter, then walks out the window. It's her classmate Neko in page 16 who also enters the class and notices Komichi outside.

the way they look near identical doesnt help, but it makes sense now

I'm pretty sure that's her same class in middle school so she's still middle school first year and we only skipped the festival cause going from middle school to high school is a huge timeskip.

EDIT: Okay I saw someone brought up chapter 56 where it said Erika does not have permission to stay in Roubai for high school. So maybe we did timeskip to high school which still baffles me

It's not high school, it's just two or three months later towards the end of the first year of middle school. Kao is still tiny, she'd be on the cusp of entering middle school if this was a three-year timeskip. Komichi is still wearing her middle school uniform too, so is everyone around her and she's clearly not older than them. Erika most likely reached some agreement with her dad at the festival such as being allowed to stay at Roubai for high school but having to be as serious as possible about playing piano and thus having to sometimes travel around. It would be very odd if she just failed to convince him and hadn't been around the whole first year of high school when the play apparently went so well.

Was rereading the chapter and a thought came to mind; Komichi is asking her mom if the coat looks okay as if she hadn’t worn it during winter before. Is the coat maybe a gift from a certain blonde classmate (gf) whose name starts with “E”?
