God I hate it when people just cry to themselves in made up self pitty instead of just fucking talking with their partner.
Aya is sligthly at fault too yes but that whole crap is Mitsukis fault
Aww that piggy back was so cute :)

If only you communicate it with her all of these will be solved on an instant, you useless lesbian!
T-T.....have to on hold reading this for the mean time, will marinate this until a certain lesbian step up her game and have some balls to overcome her fears in communication. My kokoro can't keep up on this drama.T-T
I love seeing them kissing, but daym not like this covering up and temporary fixing the actual problem, after all intimacy, sex or kissing is not itself enough to solve their problem especially not on their case. They're missing the most important solution in this drama, combination of communication, understanding and listening are the integral parts of it!
We're at a point where Mitsuki is feeling gross to me, she refuses to communicate with her girlfriend, gives her girlfriend the cold shoulder, and the moment her girlfriend leans on a friend she assumes her girlfriend is cheating on her. Mitsuki then takes her girlfriend home and instead of letting things rest for the night and talking in the morning...Mitsuki decides to further avoid communication by fucking her drunk and love starved barely functional girlfriend. Maybe people won't agree with my reading of the situation, but this chapter was really uncomfortable in my opinion.
So the clingy bug did make an appearance! Though things didn't exactly work out lol. I'm loving these last couple of chapters.
WHAT ARE YOU SAYING MITSUKI

See, I think that's supposed to be the point. Mitsuki is like, 22 at most, and like most 22 year olds, is a fuck up. She had her dreams dashed due to several bands treating her like she was disposable, this has sent her into a major depression and caused her to re-think all of her assumptions in life. She is still re-thinking those, and due to also being depressed, is not coming to the correct answers.
I don't know if the series is going to progress her depression and poor decision making until the point where Aya throws her ass out, but it wouldn't surprise me. There's been a ton of hints pointing in that direction.
Mitsuki is so depressed she is not thinking clearly. She doesn't realize she needs to communicate, and might even be under the assumption that she is communicating the appropriate amount.
The author is throwing a bunch of hints that Mitsuki is in the wrong here, and has been for some time because her head is shoved firmly up her ass.

I guess for me the execution of it doesn't feel like it's working though. We liked Mitsuki, now she's being awful, and this will continue for...20 more weeks of 4 page chapters or something?

I still like Mitsuki. Her fucking up doesn't make me like her less because she's not being mean, she's not doing this on purpose, and she wants things to be well with Aya. I also think she's more interesting like this. As much fun as accidental rizz Mitsuki was, the high school years never adequately addressed that Aya was doing a lot of the emotional labor in the relationship.
Maybe the sex will clear their heads and then they’ll be ready to talk…

Well I'm glad you're enjoying it. Personally I think her character isn't interesting and is beyond frustrating. Plus I think she is currently unlikable, and for me her being unlikable felt like a weirdly sharp turn due to the time jumps and everything.
The irony that a roughly 10 to maybe 15 minute conversation months ago would have mean this angsty bullshit never actually happens really blows my mind like Aya did nothing wrong falling asleep on her friend's shoulder she was literally there drinking with them and because Mitsuki is so insecure she instantly just goes oh my God maybe she has a thing for her seriously grow the fuck up and stop being a freaking baby and talk my God this entire thing is so frustrating at this point she thinks just because I don't have music anymore the only thing keeping them together is banging? Congrats Mitsuki you just took advantage of a drunk girl's feelings and had sex with her I bet you feel amazing on the inside.
Mitsuki is a giant child maybe she does deserve to be alone

I guess it comes down to "Do you like seeing a likeable character fuck up and do stupid shit and have to redeem themselves as a plot device" or not.
It's just a matter of taste. You're not wrong with not liking that. I like this because it mirrors a lot of my friends' lives earlier in their lives, and to an extent my own.
I still like Mitsuki, at worst she’s uncommunicative and avoidant of conflict, which makes her not realize the toll it takes on Aya. It’s frustrating as a reader knowing how Aya feels but for Mitsuki this the first Aya seems to be herself around someone else in a similar way that she is with mitski. The feeling is still fresh so her self pitying, while annoying is understandable to me, and hopefully this will lead to the realization that her actions are pushing Aya away and be the catalyst that forces mitski to face her problem with music. A big draw back for how short these are is it’s just not the best for having an overarching drama that goes on for weeks
Yeah, the format the comic has causes a lot of problems. If it were biweekly 8 page updates, I tihnk it'd be paced a lot better.

That's fair. I should say there are characters that I do find interesting that are total messes and find even relatable in some ways, but Mitsuki isn't clicking for me and I simply feel bad for Aya. It's driving me crazy haha
I'm all for getting to the blue manga phase but the way it's currently being executed is just making me eyeroll tbh. How many more of this reheated mitsuki's woe is me mentality can we take really- it's really hard to sympathize with her even when we're reading from her pov. I want aya to get some sort of reprieve from this bullshit.

So much so that a cute girl once thought she was a guy and Mitsuki didn’t tell her the truth until she was forced to.
Inhales deeply
Exhales slowly
Cheat on your girlfriend. Leave my emo band
I maintain that this is good, although not enough. Mitsuki needs a wake up call. She's been taking Aya for granted a bit, like she'll always be there without Mitsuki putting in the emotional effort. Being there physically is not enough. Hopefully this leads to some self-reflection from Mitsuki, though I'm afraid we'll need something more drastic for her to fully realize.
Yeah this was good stuff. A lot of complicated feelings and interesting situations they've been put in it. I'm glad this series has avoided doing what most of these romances do, which is to never have their characters do anything genuinely disagreeable or debatable. That'll be a bit foreign to some and in others it'll cause some issues and disagreement but that's why I respect her for doing it even more. Real flaws rather than "I'm so bad because I love too much," or something. I'm glad she has enough confidence in herself to write this. I'm intrigued. Should be fun moving forward.

It's all the benefit of not knowing what happened with the band. We're finding out through actions (or inactions) how much Mitsuki's been affected and damaged by that separation--how that separation has highlighted and exacerbated other long held insecurities. A domino effect. It's cool. I like the nuanced discussion of her mental state. I think there's more to add but I don't feel like a super longer response at the moment. Just a lot of confidence coming from Sumiko here. It'll be so satisfying when they overcome this, however they do.

Mitsuki you fucking idiot. Aya still, while drunk, is still better at communicating. She said she feels lonely and instead of thinking "hm, wonder why my lover feels lonely around me" ya just...get jealous of her friend?? Crazy work.
It's not that I want this to be a breakup arc but I do think emotionally incompetent people should not be in relationships unless they're actively sorting that shit out. It's just not fair to the other person and if Aya were my friend irl, we'd be analyzing pros and cons of staying rn.
This story is dragging this melodrama out way too long, and I mean that in a critical way, not on a "oh it hurts so good" way. It's not just the relationship that's suffering from all this melodrama (which was the writer's intention), but the story itself is suffering too.
The context for this arc isn't helping either. We got new side characters for this arc and wrote off literally everyone the main couple knew before the time skip (ballsy because it also means we only have the two main cast to be familiar with for this arc and our protagonists now have zero support network). The pacing has also been far more focused on the drama and not much else tbh (even most of the cutesy/fun moments, what few there were, were connected to the underlying drama). We also had a massive break on a melodramatic cliffhanger which further set the tone for the arc as mainly unease one compared to previous arcs. Also it feels like even the musical motifs have taken a backseat to the drama (might've been intentional on the author's part to show Mitsuki's disconnect to music atm, but it's done in such a way that it makes the arc feel more flat since now it's literally no different from any other melodramatic young love story).
But the worst part is: it's the same fucking bullshit we got last time and every fucking time with this manga: No heart to heart communication until things blow up and then they one of them has to do some over the top gesture to resolve things and I'm calling the author out on it.
It's literally happened every plot arc.
Original Plot: Mitsuki and Aya refused to talk about Aya mistaking Mitsuki for a hot guy until things blew up and Mitsuki did a performance for her.
Next plot: Mitsuki and Aya refused to talk about wanting to be closer friends until things blew up and Aya climbed through Mitsuki's window to confront her it.
Next plot: Mitsuki and Aya refused to talk about their personal problems (Aya with study anxiety and Mitsuki with her musical career) AND Mitsuki and Aya didn't talk about their relationship changing from close friendship to something deeper (especially on the wake of Mitsuki's sudden popularity) until things blew up and they had a very cheesy but sweet prom night.
Now: Mitsuki and Aya can't talk openly about Mitsuki's anxiety with music after multiple failed bands (don't pretend Aya snapping at and confronting Mitsuki after midnight was genuine communication, that was just more melodramatic bullshit from the author) and now Mitsuki just assuming Aya is getting ready to leave her instead of AGAIN just talking things out with her lover. So again, things are blowing up and may blow up even further given how the plot has been getting more melodramatic with every new chapter.
I'm also expecting some more drama like another even bigger fight or them sulking until some outside party forces some sense into one or both of them because I fully don't expect the author to have either of them do it of their own accord with how their writing has been going. As for the over the top gesture, Mitsuki finally faces her fears and picks up the guitar again (maybe with the event her coworker was telling her about) to show Aya the music she wants to do and not just the music she was forced to do with her old bands and show Aya she wants her to hear that music too. Incidentally, I'm expecting the author to also say Mitsuki was sooo hung up on not showing/doing anything musical with Aya because she both was ashamed of what she did show her and wasn't confident in finding her music after so many bad band fits.
It's dramatic, it's cliche and I'm sure some people will eat it up... but honestly it all could've and should've been summed up in a midway chapter having a heart to heart and then the rest of the volume focusing on Mitsuki establishing her own band. But instead the entire arc seems focused solely around their inability to communicate and dragging it out for months on end.
As it stands, the manga is experiencing sitcom levels of character development: reset all character growth and communication skills at the end of every episode (or plot arc in this manga's case) to milk the same drama later on, again and again until it's no longer profitable. That style of writing is fucking over this story's potential and the writer needs to stop relying on it.
The author fucked up with thinking relationship drama was all that important to the story when the couple's journey through life was what truly made this story shine.
I'm hoping the author learns how to do proper character development for the main couple and have them deal with new plot arcs with their developed characterizations instead of resetting Mitsuki's and Aya's communication and critical thinking skills to Chapter 1 levels of development every fucking new plot arc.
That way, we don't get them STILL having over melodramatic relationship issues due to them not being able to healthily communicate for the entire fucking series and developing an honestly dysfunctional relationship. Instead I want to get more interesting stories about them tackling life's challenges together as a couple and still arguing at times and facing hardships that make them cling tightly together as they navigate through the storms and eventually find they've lived a full life well-lived and well-loved together.
